Senzu Bean!
It was indeed a Senzu Bean.
When he saw the legendary Senzu Bean from the Dragon Ball world appear before his eyes, Roland's breathing grew ragged. He shoved Korin aside and clutched the jar containing the beans to his chest. At this moment, he felt like a traveler lost in the desert for days, dying of thirst, who had suddenly stumbled upon an oasis; his eyes were filled with a desperate hunger for survival.
That jar, filled to the brim, had to contain at least ten thousand beans.
These were life-saving treasures!
"There are actually this many!"
With such a massive stockpile, it was baffling that they were incredibly scarce decades later—so rare that Korin had to harvest immature beans just to let Goku and his friends share them. Just how much treasure had that fat slob Yajirobe wasted?
Every time he thought of these treasures being squandered, Roland's heart ached.
To ensure these treasures didn't go to waste, he had to pack them all up and take them away.
These are all mine.
Pushed by Roland, Korin stumbled back a few steps before steadying himself. Seeing Roland's miserly expression, black lines immediately appeared on his forehead.
"That's all there is. Senzu Beans aren't easy to grow; I can only harvest a few dozen a year. These are what I've saved up over several hundred years. This year's crop hasn't even been planted yet. At least leave me some for seeds."
Roland, unwilling to part with the jar, thought about not cutting off his supply. He reached into the jar, grabbed a handful of beans, and placed them on the ground—about fifty of them.
"No problem, keep these for seeds."
Korin stared at that small pile of beans—only about fifty—then looked at the jar in Roland's arms. He suddenly felt as if he had been set back to the Stone Age. But since the other party possessed such overwhelming power, he supposed he should just be thankful that no real trouble had occurred.
Sighing heavily, he bent down to collect the pitifully few beans.
"Wait!" Roland called out.
"Hmm?" Korin looked up, confused.
Roland's expression twisted for a moment, looking pained. He actually reached back into the pile on the ground and snatched a portion back into the jar. "Fifty is a bit too many for seeds. Here, take these."
After grabbing a handful back from the fifty, only thirty remained.
How is this enough?! Watching the beans dwindle, Korin was hopping mad, yet he had no choice but to obediently collect them.
So infuriating!
"I heard you have a treasure here called the 'Ultra Divine Water'?"
The airy voice made Korin shudder. Korin opened his mouth, "You want the 'Ultra Divine Water' too?!"
Senzu Beans were just tools to fill one's stomach, which Korin could accept losing, but the Ultra Divine Water was different. It was a treasure capable of unlocking human potential and was extremely precious. Hearing Roland mention it made Korin's fur stand on end.
Roland shook his head. "No, just asking."
Although that stuff could unlock potential, it was essentially poison. The process of stimulating potential was far too brutal; nine times out of ten, the drinker would die from the toxicity. In the original story, Goku had barely survived, relying on his Saiyan physique to endure it. Roland even suspected that drinking it might cause long-term damage to the body.
In the original work, Goku, a Saiyan, died from a viral heart disease. Perhaps it was precisely because he had consumed the Ultra Divine Water and later repeatedly used the Kaioken under heavy strain that his heart had worn out prematurely.
Roland preferred to stay away from such unsafe things.
It wouldn't do to trade future stability for temporary convenience. When it came to unlocking potential, the Grand Elder of Planet Namek or the Old Kai of the Supreme Kai World were much more reliable.
Safe and without hidden risks.
"Hahaha, Korin, I'm very satisfied with this harvest. Remember to work hard on planting those beans; I'll be back to visit again."
With a laugh directed at Korin, Roland leaped off the edge of Korin Tower and vanished in an instant.
I hope I never see you again... Korin watched Roland's figure disappear into the clouds, praying that the man would never return.
Roland's looting had caused him heavy losses. Looking at that pitifully small pile of beans, Korin shook his head helplessly.
Up at Kami's Lookout.
Kami and Mr. Popo witnessed Roland leaving Korin Tower and breathed a sigh of relief. They had been terrified that the man would be unsatisfied and cause trouble; if he had stormed the Lookout, it would have been a disaster.
Fortunately, the man had only taken some mostly useless Senzu Beans from Korin.
Yes, in the eyes of Kami and Mr. Popo, the value of Senzu Beans was not very high.
"Hahaha, I got so many Senzu Beans so easily!" On his way back, Roland was overjoyed, clutching the jar of beans.
He opened the lid, grabbed one, and popped it into his mouth. With a crisp "crunch," he took a bite. The bean had no particular taste, but a rich surge of energy quickly spread through his mouth, and a warmth instantly flowed through his entire body.
His stomach felt full, and his mental fatigue was wiped away in an instant; he felt as if he were brimming with strength and vitality.
Roland's eyes lit up, and he laughed in satisfaction. "Hahaha, good stuff, a real treasure."
There were about ten thousand beans in the jar, all of which could be used to save his life in a pinch. Roland carefully tucked them away, but holding them in his arms felt insecure. It was just a ceramic jar; what if he dropped it and lost the beans? Thinking of this, Roland decided he needed a better way to store them.
Hoi-Poi Capsule?
The name suddenly surfaced in his mind. The Hoi-Poi Capsule technology on Earth was practically black magic; items of all sizes could be stored inside a tiny capsule. It was an essential item for home and travel.
Thinking of this, Roland decided he should go get some blank Hoi-Poi Capsules, so he immediately flew toward a more densely populated city.
Technological development on Earth was highly uneven; the level of technology between different regions could differ by hundreds of years.
Some villages seemed cut off from the world, still using kerosene lamps for light, while others had developed slightly and adopted basic machinery. Yet, upon entering the cities, one would find various jet-powered hover vehicles flying everywhere and suspended traffic lanes, as if one had suddenly stepped into a future world.
Roland did not fly for long before landing in a relatively developed city, where all manner of technology had become commonplace.
Hoi-Poi Capsule technology was naturally available here as well.
Located in a prominent spot on the street was a shop selling various capsule devices and blank Hoi-Poi Capsules.
Roland patted his pockets, but he didn't have a single copper coin on him. Was he supposed to rob the store? He shook his head; even Saiyans had a concept of money, and Roland was a decent person—how could he do such a thing? Suddenly, his eyes darted toward a small alley in the corner of the street, where a few thugs were smoking.
Let them make a small contribution.
Roland gave a cold smile, his small frame walking toward the group of thugs.
Seven thugs stood in the corner of the wall, puffing away, their hair dyed in various colors. They were laughing loudly as they recounted interesting things they had encountered recently, mostly about who they had bullied today, how much money they had extorted from whom, and how they planned to spend it.
"Big brothers, do you have a lot of money on you?"
A childish voice rang out, and a kid who looked only four or five years old appeared before the thugs.
