Bai Yue confronted Kumogakure to deter war, then awakened the true Tenseigan and traveled to the moon, where he seized the Purple Tenseigan and left the Golden Tenseigan under guard. Back in Konoha, he became Team 8’s instructor and began training Hinata, Kiba, and Shino through a punishing river-cleaning mission.

• After learning Kumogakure had plotted to abduct Hinata, Bai Yue traveled to the Land of Lightning, attacked the Raikage and Killer B, and warned the Raikage against starting a war.
• Hiruzen removed Danzo from control of Root and rejected his push to attack Kumogakure, while Shikaku met Bai Yue and learned he had killed the Cloud delegation and visited the village.
• Bai Yue awakened the true Tenseigan, opened a wormhole to the moon, killed Otsutsuki Hagoromo, absorbed the Purple Tenseigan, and left Shadow Clones to study and guard the Golden Tenseigan.
• Bai Yue returned to the Ninja World, transferred Kurama’s consciousness into a fox cub, and accepted Hiruzen’s request to instruct Team 8.

Bai Yue advanced his power and prepared Naruto and the other young ninja for the Chunin Exam while disrupting Orochimaru’s invasion and managing the Nine-Tails. The exam’s preliminary battles began with Sasuke and Hinata winning, and Naruto was set to face Neji next.

• Bai Yue developed the New Caged Bird seal, brought Otsutsuki Hagoromo and Otsutsuki Toneri into the True Illusionary Realm, and fused Otsutsuki Blood into himself.
