Background / History

Dai Mubai was a Star Luo prince and a contender in the imperial succession. At age twelve, fearing that his elder brother Dai Weisi would eliminate him, he fled the Star Luo Imperial Palace and vowed to return. Emperor Star Luo responded by revoking both his princely title and his right to compete for the throne, then named Dai Weisi Crown Prince. 127

He later remained at Shrek Academy while recovering from injuries inflicted by Dugu Yan. Although he presented himself as devoted to the academy, he privately admitted that his flattering speeches to Oscar and the teachers were empty words meant to gain favor; he intended to leave once he could do so. 135

At fifteen, Dai Mubai was a Level 37 Soul Elder and a senior Shrek student. He met Tang San, Xiao Wu, and Zhu Zhuqing at the Rose Hotel, where his aggressive advances toward Zhu Zhuqing and offensive behavior toward Xiao Wu provoked a duel with Tang San. 189 190 Zhu Zhuqing's arrival at Shrek also revealed that they were old acquaintances; she was disappointed that, despite being three years older and having higher innate soul power, he was only ten levels ahead of her. 196

Dai Mubai eventually explained that the Dai family's succession system pits selected heirs against one another: the victor inherits, while the loser is eliminated. During the Grand Finals against Star Luo Royal Academy, Dai Weisi told him that Emperor Star Luo had already stripped his inheritance rights. Tang San nevertheless promised to help Dai Mubai fight for survival. 395

After receiving Black-grade Five Trials alongside Tang San and the others, Dai Mubai's cultivation advanced rapidly. He returned to Star Luo City as a Level 75 Soul Sage, seeking to reclaim his former standing and challenge Dai Weisi again. Emperor Star Luo allowed him to reside in the former Eastern Palace and restored him as Third Prince, but did not immediately grant his requested rematch. 555 556 557

Dai Mubai then sought to finalize his engagement to Zhu Zhuqing. When she rejected him, he ordered guards to monitor her movements and later followed her from the city, intending to force her into submission. Zhu Zhuqing exposed her Spirit Douluo strength, defeated and crippled him, and handed evidence of the attempted assault to the White Tiger Guards. Emperor Star Luo subsequently stripped Dai Mubai's title again and annulled the engagement. 560 561 562

Appearance

Dai Mubai is tall and heavily built. When he activates his White Tiger Martial Soul, his body becomes substantially more muscular and takes on predatory, tiger-like traits. 190 211

  • Golden hair that changes to predominantly white with distinct black strands during Martial Soul possession. 211
  • Four forehead markings—three horizontal and one vertical—forming the character “King.” 211
  • Dual pupils that become deep sapphire blue; his eyes may turn blood-red under White Tiger Vajra Transformation. 190 287
  • Enlarged, fur-covered hands with retractable, eight-inch dagger-like tiger claws. 190 211
  • Black stripes across his skin and a golden aura while using White Tiger Vajra Transformation. 287 389

Personality

Dai Mubai is proud of his strength and status, openly displaying his cultivation and treating weaker opponents with contempt. He can be domineering and violent, such as when he seriously injured a Blue Sunshine Academy student with a single palm strike and mocked the victim's weakness. 190 210

He is also opportunistic and image-conscious. While injured at Shrek, he cultivated the staff's goodwill with insincere compliments, and he attempted to impress Zhu Zhuqing by giving her preferential treatment during registration. 135 197

Despite his arrogance, he recognizes threats and can act decisively under pressure. He feared Lin Du's strength, treated Tang San as Shrek's most dangerous student, and commanded the group to retreat when facing the Titan Giant Ape. 198 235 257 His fear of Dai Weisi and the Star Luo succession rules also drives much of his ambition and desperation. 127 395

His later conduct toward Zhu Zhuqing reveals a coercive and possessive side: after she rejected their engagement, he planned to use “special means,” had her watched, and attempted to force her into a compromising situation. 560 561
