Background / History
Shui Bing'er was an orphan who survived as a beggar from childhood. At five years old, she stole a steamed bun during winter, was caught and beaten, and was saved by Lu Ming. He accepted her as his disciple, taught her to read and cultivate, healed her internal injuries, and used his own life force to transform her aptitude and martial soul. 49
Lu Ming later left her only a letter before departing on a long journey. Believing he was avoiding her, Shui Bing'er trained obsessively to reach godhood and find him again. She cultivated in the Extreme North Land, where she became acquainted with the Snow Empress and Ice Empress while seeking the Ice God's inheritance. 49 65 104
After her Ice Phoenix ranked seventh on the Martial Soul Ranking, Shui Bing'er claimed its reward and ascended as the Rank One Ice God. She then traveled to Tiandou City, tracked Lu Ming through his lingering aura, and followed him toward the Star Dou Great Forest. 70 75
Shui Bing'er reunited with Lu Ming in the Star Dou Great Forest after recognizing his scent from his cooking. Although she initially presented their connection as master and disciple, learning that Gu Yuena was Lu Ming's wife pushed her to confess that she wanted to remain with him as more than a disciple. 102 104 118 119
Her feelings became possessive: she attempted to take Lu Ming away by force and froze Ye Lingling, Ah Yin, and Bai Xiuxiu when they intervened. Lu Ming effortlessly defeated her divine attack, revealing a power gap she had not anticipated. 119 124 138
Following the end of their formal master-disciple bond, Shui Bing'er left Lu Ming after embracing him and kissing his cheek. She later entered the Divine Court after Tianshui Academy submitted, continuing to serve Lu Ming and train under his guidance. 143 178 218 223

Under that reserve, she is deeply emotional, grateful, and devoted to Lu Ming because of the life he gave her. Her longing to repay his sacrifices develops into romantic love and, at its worst, obsessive possessiveness; she views anyone obstructing her pursuit of him as an enemy. 49 81 119
After joining the Divine Court, she becomes noticeably more open and playful around Lu Ming, while still treating him with deference and addressing him as “Young Master” in public. 178 218 219
