Inside the core laboratory of the Purgatory Sulfur Plane, Benjamin looked at the third military dispatch displayed on the Magic Network Terminal, his brow slightly furrowed.
Instead of reading the mission overview or plane data first, his gaze habitually drifted to the battle casualty statistics at the bottom.
It was a habit he had developed.
Before truly understanding the enemy, looking at the price his own side would have to pay was often the fastest way to judge the "nature" of a battle.
Then his movements stopped.
Current deaths: 0
Zero.
A glaring zero.
Benjamin stared at that number for three seconds, and suddenly felt his temples throbbing.
Having experienced all manner of extremely difficult plane wars, he had nearly become numb to battlefields with "high casualty rates."
War in the Wizard World had never been child's play. It was nothing unusual for several zeros to follow a death toll.
But "zero deaths"?
That made his scalp tingle even more than a ninety-percent casualty rate.
"Trouble..." Benjamin muttered, his fingers unconsciously tapping against the obsidian tabletop.
Based on his previous experience in the Justice Plane, as well as the many cases he had heard of, any plane that showed "zero deaths" or "extremely low casualties" in a wizard war had only one thing in common:
The enemy simply could not be dealt with through conventional means.
Either the wizards "couldn't beat them," or "couldn't kill them," or "killing them was useless anyway."
The worst case was something like the Justice Plane, where there was not even an opportunity for you to fight them—
Benjamin took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down.
Zero deaths usually meant one of two possibilities:
The first was that his side utterly crushed the enemy, who were so weak they could not even
