History

Purgatory Sulfur was selected for Benjamin by Noren Workshop following its survey and assessment. Mentor Clark described it as one of the foremost Demon Planes in the Eloria Plane Cluster: a vast, primitive world with frequent geological activity, active fire elements, and a physical surface area exceeding that of Eloria's main plane. 147

Benjamin reached the plane through a permanent teleportation point established by Noren Workshop. Its former high-ranking demon inhabitants had already been removed during the Wizards' cleansing operation, leaving abandoned caves, damaged stone palaces, and other ruins across the volcanic landscape. 148

Benjamin began its development by hiring a construction and survey team to map mineral veins, establish an initial base, install protective facilities, and prepare the plane for larger projects. The first major renovation flattened a volcanic region and replaced it with a city-sized expanse of refined, mirror-smooth metal flooring linked to reserved energy nodes and formation interfaces. 150 156

A Level 7 Large Elemental Pool was later embedded into the plane. Its arrival caused atmospheric upheaval and gave the sky a second luminous body comparable to a blazing sun. 243

After upgrading the plane-wide energy network, Benjamin repurposed its natural Divine Power Faith Network into an Incense Divinity Path. His long-term objective was to make the entire plane a world-scale laboratory for researching the Spirit Energy Law by converting its violent fire-aspected energy into refined Spirit Energy. 328

The addition and initial connection of the Elemental Pool intensified the plane's volcanic activity, turning much of its surface into a near-continuous magma sea. Over the following century, Black Giant communities spread across the molten landscape while the Incense Divinity Path steadily expanded. 336 338

A decade after Benjamin brought back ten planes from a parallel world, engineering teams completed their fusion with Purgatory Sulfur. The resulting expansion raised it from a small plane to a medium plane. 613

Environment and Resources

Terrain and climate

Purgatory Sulfur is dominated by volcanoes, lava flows, charred rock, sulfurous gases, and dense ash clouds. Its air is hot enough to be dangerous without protection and carries a pungent sulfur smell that can penetrate the lungs. 148

Fire elementals are exceptionally active throughout the plane. In local elemental theory, fire represents energy itself; consequently, the density and aggression of free energy particles are unusually high, giving the plane enormous natural energy reserves. 148

The plane originally lacked a Water Elemental Plane projection and therefore had no natural moon. Its sky contained only the constant projection of the Fire Elemental Plane and, after installation, the luminous projection of the Level 7 Large Elemental Pool. 585

Black Giants were deliberately bred as the plane's principal servant race because they can survive on lava and energy, possess high intelligence, and are suitable believers for the Incense Divinity Path. 329
