By the time Benjamin finished dealing with the assorted messes in the temporary base and stepped outside, the scene had completely changed. Dense shadows blanketed the sky overhead as the various cannon fodder legions took flight one after another, scattering in different directions under the guidance of their masters and commanders.
Clark's Shadow Dragon Legion had already left first. Thousands of Shadow Dragons threaded through the clouds, their enormous bodies tracing paths across the sky. Wizard Augusta led Bert Vera Augusta and her cannon fodder forces northward.
His mentor's wife, Castillo, had chosen another direction for her legion. Before leaving, she even waved to Benjamin, her smile as radiant as if she were heading out on a spring outing. Viola was also preparing to depart.
A cannon fodder legion composed of various creatures followed behind her. Its numbers were not particularly great, but every unit radiated a fierce aura. She walked up to Benjamin, her tone unusually serious:
"Be careful. Don't try to be a hero. The enemies in this plane cluster are no pushovers."
Benjamin nodded. "Understood."
Viola said nothing more and turned back toward her legion.
Her legion slowly rose into the air, soon joining the sky-blotting torrent overhead and flying east.
Benjamin stood where he was, watching all the wizards depart until only his own legion remained, still organizing itself in orderly fashion.
The Black Giant Priests busily directed the Black Giant Legion and the Dragonblood Mushroom Legion, capturing and "packaging" every creature in the area before sending them in a steady stream back to the Purgatory Sulfur Plane on the other side of the Spatial Passage.
