Chapter 64: Potions Development
His speculation about and search for the Chamber of Secrets counted as a small diversion Vaughn had found for himself amid his busy life.
As for the new potion, all his preparations were complete. He was only waiting for Professor Snape to find time to take him to see the werewolves.
Two days later, when Vaughn emerged from the Slytherin Common Room fully dressed, he found Snape waiting for him in a dark corner of the corridor.
That gloomy, eerie appearance made it seem as though he were conducting some sort of clandestine meeting.
"Professor, you should get some more sun. It won't melt you."
"Shut—up!"
"Yes, Professor."
They went to the office together, where Snape handed him a pot of Floo Powder with a stiff expression.
"Go to Knockturn Alley. Don't say it wrong!"
Vaughn suddenly missed Nirvana's Fawkes. It had been so convenient—not like Floo Powder, which got dust all over him.
He grabbed a handful and stepped into the fireplace.
After following the standard procedure, he opened his eyes to find himself in a dark, narrow alley.
Unlike nearby Diagon Alley, the Public Floo here looked shabby and run-down. Many furtive figures lurked in the surrounding corners.
Whenever green flames surged up and someone appeared through the transport, they would pull their cloaks tight and hurry away, not daring to linger for even a moment.
Vaughn did not care much. He brushed the dust off himself and waited for a while. Soon, the fireplace behind him lit up.
But Snape did not come out immediately.
Vaughn saw him standing inside the fireplace, quietly waving his wand...
Vaughn called out with a smile, "Professor, are you secretly cleaning off the soot?"
Then Snape's teeth-gritting response came from the fireplace. "Shut! Up!"
