The Perfect Age to Hold It In
Forbidden Forest returned from this trip. James was noisy and hungry, so he led a few people to Kitchen near Hufflepuff Common Room.
The House-elf people were surrounding them, for fear that the noble little wizard would not be full. Roasted potatoes, Butter Biscuit, Steak, pudding, Pumpkin Juice, were all placed on the table.
James ate a lot, drank a lot, and returned Dormitory with a round belly. He threw himself on the bed with satisfaction.
Then I was woken up by my bladder in the middle of the night.
The curtains in Dormitory were not drawn, and the moonlight poured in from the high windows, covering the floor with a silvery glow.
James protruded from the quilt without opening his eyes. He poked his feet on the ground a few times to find the slippers. He used muscle memory to feel for Washroom. He walked this road for almost three years and could find it with his eyes closed. From the end of the bed to the door, turn left at the end of Corridor. The door is on the right and the pit is on the left. He never makes a mistake.
As soon as he stood up in his slippers, he raised his head. There was a man standing by the window, with his back to him, motionless.
The moonlight outlined the man's outline with a silver edge, and his hair was messy.
James squinted his eyes and didn't wear glasses. He was just a blurry dark silhouette, but the lines on his body were too familiar to him.
He reached for the bedside table and found his glasses. He lowered his head and put it on the bridge of his nose, then raised his head again.
A big face stuck in front of him.
Less than two inches away from him, his eyes were wide open, his mouth was tilted to both sides at an abnormal angle, his tongue was tilted on his lower lip, a faint yellow light shone upward from his chin, and there were shadows under his eye sockets.
Ugh!"
James had just howled out half a syllable when a hand came up to cover his mouth and stuck it firmly on his mouth.
Then he kicked his foot out on his own. Without thinking, it was purely an instinctive reaction of his body being frightened. He kicked his right foot forward suddenly and hit the opponent in the stomach.
The man groaned and rolled back, holding his stomach and rolling over on the ground. He curled up into a shrimp, raised a finger and pointed at him, and opened and closed his mouth. He was so painful that he couldn't speak.
James Then I saw it clearly, Sirius.
He was lying on his side on the ground, holding his stomach, and the strange expression on his face had not yet been completely put away.
The corners of his mouth were still pulled upward, but his eyebrows were already twisted into a ball, and the pain and laughter were mixed together, making the whole face look even weirder. He opened his mouth silently, and his shoulders twitched, probably because he wanted to laugh but couldn't because it really hurt from being kicked.
James was not in the mood to appreciate his expression. He was facing a more pressing problem at the moment.
In the shock just now, the bladder sphincter and abdominal muscles received a set of contradictory nerve signals at the same time. The sympathetic nerves made them contract, and the startle reflex made them relax.
At the age of fourteen, these muscles are usually very obedient, but they couldn't handle the fact that I drank too much Pumpkin Juice tonight, and I couldn't handle the sudden shock.
In front of the sphincter, willpower sometimes has no say.
His bladder made a decision independent of his brain at this moment.
A few drops leaked.
James's face suddenly changed. He ignored Sirius who was still twitching silently on the ground, picked up his pants and ran towards the door.
Halfway through, he turned back, grabbed the magic wand on the bedside table, glared at Sirius, and then rushed into Washroom at the end of Corridor without looking back.
Sirius stood up from the ground and rubbed his belly. The kick he received just now was a real blow. James really didn't hold back his strength with this kick.
He gritted his teeth and took a breath of air-conditioning. Then he saw the back of James running out with his pants up, and suddenly he wanted to understand what happened.
He grinned and laughed silently, his shoulders shaking with laughter. He was laughing but did not dare to make a sound, which made the muscles in his stomach hurt even more. He slowly got up and walked to the window again.
The moon had just been covered by clouds, but now it emerged again, with a small piece missing. It had been a few days since the full moon.
The moonlight spreads on the stone walls of Castle, plating the spires and crenellations of the towers with silver gray.
Black Lake There was sparkling broken light in the distance, the withered yellow grass swayed gently in the night wind, and everything was quiet under the sky.
He stared at the lake for a long time, not looking anywhere, not on the moon.
Washroom There was movement over there, first a very low voice, which could not be heard clearly after a few bends, but the syllables were very familiar.
"Scouring Charm."
Then I read it again, harder.
"Scouring Charm!"
After a moment of pause, the sound of footsteps came from Corridor.
James came over, with a look of lingering irritation on his face, the corners of his mouth turned down, and the base of his ears still a little red.
Sirius turned his head, his eyes stopped on his face for a moment, then slowly moved down, landing on his crotch.
James's face burned up, he rushed over in two steps, hit him with his shoulder, and shouted at the top of his lungs, "What are you looking at!"
Sirius was knocked to the side by him, with the corner of his mouth still grinning, and he leaned forward in amusement for a while, and then his expression slowly faded away. He turned back and looked out the window again.
James stood next to him, his chest still heaving, his anger still lingering, and he felt something was wrong.
He glanced at Sirius.
When I came back from the funeral the day before yesterday, something was wrong with this guy. He lay straight on the bed without taking off his black robe and didn't say anything to me.
It did recover yesterday, at least it seemed to have recovered.
When Slytherin blocked Slytherin's gang outside Castle, James thought he was the same as before and led them to find trouble with Slytherin. They had done this kind of thing eighty times if not a hundred times. They went when they were in a good mood and when they were in a bad mood. They usually had to eat at the Great Hall. But something didn't feel right yesterday.
What Sirius was looking for happened to be the group of people around Little Viper. Their tone was particularly bad and their curse words were particularly unpleasant.
James I felt something was not right at the time, but after the fight, I didn't think much about it.
Sirius did feel a little better after coming back, at least he wasn't as depressed as the night before, but he couldn't really be said to be happy.
James is not stupid, he put things together from beginning to end.
Sirius felt like he had lost his soul when he returned from the funeral. The person he picked out for a fight yesterday happened to be someone close to his younger brother. After the fight, he felt a little better, but not entirely.
The conclusion is very clear, it's because of that Little Viper.
James·Potter, Gryffindor third grade, Marauders leader, Sirius's best brother, he feels that he has to take care of this matter. If his brother is not happy, it is his responsibility, and he has to find a way to make his brother happy.
This is the obligation of being the boss.
James asked in a low voice, "What's wrong with you?"
Sirius glanced sideways at him, said nothing, and turned back again.
The moonlight cut out an outline of his face, and he just looked out the window.
"It's been like this since I came back the day before yesterday," James took a step closer to him, his voice was low and he spoke quickly, "You didn't say anything when I asked you, and you went to find those people again yesterday.
You want to beat them up, right? You are angry and find a place to vent your anger."
Sirius shrugged, neither admitting nor denying.
"That's okay," James bumped his arm with his shoulder. "If you beat them, they'll be beaten. Let's block them again tomorrow and teach those Siriuss a lesson." Interrupted him, "James."
James stopped talking and frowned slightly.
Sirius turned to look at him. The moonlight illuminated his gray eyes very brightly, but they didn't have the usual energy in them.
There was something James had not seen very often on his face, calm and confused.
Sirius asked softly, "Tell me, what exactly is power?"
James was stunned for a moment. "What?"
"Power," Sirius repeated, muttering in his mouth, as if he was asking James, but also as if he was asking himself, "What do you think it is?" James looked at him to confirm that he was not joking.
This question is so strange, and it's even stranger when it comes from Sirius. They never talk about this.
Strength means fighting, and winning means being powerful. What's wrong with this?
He thought about it and the answer he came up with was very simple.
"Stronger spells, faster reactions," James said in a matter-of-fact tone, "Whoever shoots the spell to the opponent first will win. The person who wins is the powerful one."
Sirius looked at James, and the picture of Christmas Banquet flashed in his mind.
The white-blue flames collided with Black Mist in Lestrange family's Banquet Hall. Metal Spike created by Transfiguration rotated at high speed and hit Black Barrier. The aftermath of the explosion shattered the entire wall.
The whip made of flames drew an arc in the air, and the loud sound of the whip tip exploding could be heard throughout the hall, and the chest was shaking.
Switching between attack and defense in a high-speed maneuver, the two men flashed back and forth between the rubble and ruins.
Those spells that make people feel fatal just by looking at them from a distance, silver, purple, and unnamed spells, each one has a sense of oppression that drives people to death.
In the end, Bellatrix knelt on the ruins and wailed, the kind of Magic that seemed to be able to damage the soul, and Regulus stood in front of her with the wand pointed at her. He can still see that scene and will probably never forget it in his life.
Those things are different from the stronger spells James said, completely different.
Sirius shook his head. "With some wizards, even if you hit them, it's useless."
"Then hit him harder!" James didn't understand the meaning of his words and just felt that he was trying to get into trouble.
"We have it at home. My dad Study has several spells locked in it. He keeps saying that I'm young and won't let me touch it. But if you need it, I'll go back and steal it. How can Potter family's family fortune be so bad?"
Sirius looked at him, James was serious.
His eyes were full of the light that I could solve this problem, just like every time he helped them with ideas, every time he led them into trouble, and every time he took the matter on himself.
He really felt that a harsher spell would be the answer.
Sirius There was something stirring in his heart, but he couldn't express it.
James Seeing that he remained silent, he changed direction and said, "If you are angry and don't want to fight again, I have other ways."
He moved closer to Sirius, his eyes flashing. "If you pour ink on their robes, sneak in in the middle of the night, and freeze their bedsheets into ice cubes, it won't work. My family's ancestral curse can make people's shoes bite their toes without anyone noticing. I'm sure they'll fall over badly and they won't be able to find out who did it."
Sirius twitched the corner of his mouth and relaxed. "Forget it."
"Why just forget it?" James was anxious. "What are you doing?"
He suddenly stopped, glanced at Sirius's expression, and swallowed back what he said.
Sirius is like this because of that Little Viper, but he can't ask me to help you deal with your brother.
He can scold Black family, he can scold Slytherin, he can scold Pure-bloods and those old antiques, but he can't mention that Little Viper. He already knows this. Then change the direction.
"I'm serious." James leaned closer and said, "Just tell me whether you want to say this."
"Not coming out."
"Then what are you going to do?"
"James," Sirius turned around and looked at him. "Some things cannot be solved by venting your anger."
James opened his mouth and wanted to say something, but he didn't know what to say.
For the first time, he felt that there was something between him and his best brother, and he couldn't explain it clearly.
He found that he didn't know this Sirius very well. This Sirius stayed awake in the middle of the night and stood by the window, asking him what power was and saying that some things could not be solved by venting his anger.
He couldn't figure it out, he just felt that his chest was blocked, his brother was unhappy, and he couldn't think of a way to do it, which made him uncomfortable.
"Then what do you think we should do?"
James's shoulders slumped and he was a little discouraged. "I can't do this and I can't do that, but you say, whatever you say, I will do it. You are my brother, I can't watch you like this."
Sirius lowered his eyes. "I know."
James keeps asking because he wants to help, and he knows this.
He also knew that all James could think of was harder spells and more damaging pranks, because he was like that before. They used to scold Black family and Slytherin together, and they thought that as long as the spells were fast and hard enough, all problems could be solved. Now he knows that is not the case, but he can't explain to James because he can't explain it.
In the past, he could say everything, and there was nothing he couldn't say. Now he knows that there are some things that cannot be said, and there are some things that are useless if said. There are two different things between being unable to say and saying it is useless, but to James's ears, they are the same.
Moreover, he didn't even capture the lackey around Regulus, so why did he drag Regulus out?
Everything I thought about before seems to have become a joke.
"Let me tell you," James suddenly became energetic. "Let's go find Snivellus."
The things in Sirius's mind were suddenly interrupted by this word: "Snape?"
"Snape!" James's eyes lit up again. "Let's block him, and then we'll be happy!"
Sirius was about to shake his head when a voice came from behind.
"What are you two doing up so late at night?"
Both of them were startled at the same time.
Turning around, Lupin was standing behind him, wearing pajamas, with messy hair and squinting eyes.
He might have been woken up, or he might have woken up early, but he had been standing there for who knows how long.
He just looked at them quietly, half of his face turned blue by the moonlight.
"It's okay." Sirius said.
James said at the same time, "Chat."
The two people looked at each other and then turned back at the same time.
Lupin looked at Sirius, then at James, but did not ask any further questions.
He dragged a chair over and sat down, leaned back on the chair, and yawned. "I can't sleep anyway, so what are we talking about?"
