Background / History
Regulus is a soul from another world inhabiting the body of Regulus Black. Aware that the original Regulus was fated to die young, he resolved to avoid that fate and pursue the greater possibilities represented by the starry sky, the universe, and unexplored magical realms. 2
From an early age, he understood that Voldemort's rise would force the Black family to choose a side. He concluded that he needed the Black family's resources, pure-blood status, and access to the Death Eaters' inner circle to obtain knowledge and power, even as he recognized that Sirius would likely take an opposing path. 4 5
At six years old, Regulus began researching the relationship between magic, the body, and magical fatigue in the attic of 12 Grimmauld Place. His discoveries led Orion Black to explain Arcturus Black's dangerous experiments in the same field and warn him against pursuing bodily enhancement recklessly. The growing threat of Voldemort and an impending conflict strengthened Regulus's resolve to pursue power. 6
Orion trained him to limit what he displayed at Hogwarts, where Regulus deliberately used a wand despite being capable of comparable control without one. He nevertheless established himself quickly in Slytherin by humiliating older students who challenged his family or authority. 10 14
During his first year, Regulus developed the Star Orbit Meditation system and built a political circle around himself. He formed working relationships with Avery Cuthbert, Alex Rosier, and Hermes Mulciber, while treating their different talents as resources to be coordinated rather than dismissed. 31 36 49
Regulus inherited Black family magical knowledge through the Family Secret Chamber and broadened his practice into Apparition, Spatial Magic, inherited spells, Dark Arts, mental magic, and advanced Transfiguration. His combat ability rapidly approached that of an elite Auror, though Orion repeatedly stressed the importance of experience and restraint. 55 60 149
His circle later expanded to include the half-blood students Lena Costa and Samuel Vance, whom he publicly sheltered in Slytherin, as well as Severus Snape, who chose to cooperate with Black's faction while retaining his own independent position. 257 357 379
His relationship with Orion evolved from parent and child into one of trusted allies. Orion increasingly involved him in family affairs, supported his independent plans, and accepted that Regulus would define his own path amid the competing influence of Dumbledore, Voldemort, and Grindelwald. 197 301
Following the Lestrange Banquet conflict and his confrontation with Voldemort, Regulus turned increasingly toward research into the relationship between soul, magic, light, darkness, and the boundaries of humanity. His investigation of Fenrir Greyback's divided human and beast mind led him to reconsider whether opposing aspects of the self should be isolated or allowed to reinforce one another. 325 395
Appearance
Regulus commonly presents himself with the controlled, formal bearing expected of the Black heir. At formal functions, he wears fitted black dress robes similar to Orion's and a replica Black Family Ring on his left hand. 52 303
- Has deep, slightly wavy black hair, gray eyes, a slender build, and refined Black family features. 11 441
- Straight posture and settled bearing; Orion notes that he appears older and more self-possessed than an ordinary eleven-year-old. 52
- His long-term magical tempering gives him an upright, well-proportioned figure and increasingly mature facial features. 235 356
- Wears a silver replica of the Black Family Ring, engraved with the family crest. 10
- At the Lestrange banquet, his robes had narrow shoulders, a fitted waist, and silver-threaded hidden cuff patterns. 303
Disguised Identity
For covert operations, Regulus can remake both his appearance and magical signature.
- Used a water mirror to transform his black hair into long silver-white hair, his gray eyes into amber slit pupils, and his slight body into that of a broad-shouldered, muscular young wizard. 441
- Alters the texture of his Magic Power through Betelgeuse, replacing his usual steady and controlled presence with a hot, violent, aggressively oppressive aura. 442 446
- The alternate identity is sufficiently convincing that Voldemort regards the silver-haired wizard as a separate Dumbledore-aligned combatant rather than associating him with Regulus Black. 469
Personality
Regulus is methodical, self-controlled, and intensely curious. He approaches magic as a system to be observed, tested, and improved, favoring patient consolidation over reckless advancement. 6 31 86
He is politically perceptive and treats influence, reputation, and alliances as practical tools. He understands the value of demonstrating strength, but also consciously moderates his public image when necessary. 49 52
In combat, Regulus is calm, analytical, and often ruthless. He prioritizes efficiency and risk assessment over conventional morality, though his developing Guardian Will shows that he is capable of making choices based on protection rather than calculation alone. 71 86 102
His concept of power extends beyond magical force: he values the ability to choose, understand, and resist being defined by others. 270
Regulus recognizes both light and darkness within himself, including his desires for control, power, and domination. Rather than denying either aspect, he seeks to understand their interaction and make both serve his chosen direction. 326 395
Though he uses the Black family's status and does not reject its resources, he does not wholly embrace blood-purity extremism. His public protection of half-blood students and refusal to become a banner for Slytherin extremists make his exact political position deliberately difficult to define. 34 257 377
Abilities & Skills
Star Orbit Meditation
A cultivation system based on the orbital imagery of stars, used to organize Regulus's spirit, Magic Power, and mental defenses.
- Circulates Magic Power through star tracks, gradually tempering his body, strengthening his spirit, and increasing his reserves. 86
- Anchors his core consciousness against illusions, temptation, and mental interference. 156 174
- Bellatrix embodies protection, boundaries, and Guardian Will; it brightens in response to Regulus's resolve to defend others and his chosen path. 86 175 191
- Requires genuine inner resonance rather than merely constructing a correct mental model. 86
- Can invoke Betelgeuse's eruptive imagery without entering deep meditation, although doing so substantially drains his mental strength. 87
- Uses Betelgeuse to manifest an outward-driving magical will characterized by heat, aggression, and the force to break through obstacles. 442 446
Transfiguration
Regulus possesses advanced Transfiguration skill, applying it both creatively and lethally.
- Produced a perfect match-to-needle transformation on his first attempt. 16
- Transformed graphite into diamond and created a winged rabbit capable of movement. 40 77
- Uses Transfiguration offensively, including suffocation, crystal formation inside an opponent's lungs, and conjuring a python during a duel. 30 70
- Has reached the threshold of Spatial Transfiguration. 267
- Uses advanced bodily and appearance-altering Transfiguration to construct alternate identities for covert work. 441
Space Magic
Regulus studies Apparition and spatial phenomena as the foundation of a broader Space Magic system.
- Performed solo Apparition under Orion's supervision. 60
- Developed the Spatial Warp Charm, creating a passage through which an object could be moved. 152
- Uses Spatial Warp to enhance attacks, including a Stone Spike. 173
- Can sense subtle spatial disturbances, such as a House-elf's arrival. 77
- Can detect the opening point of an opponent's Apparition channel and anticipate their landing position. 318
- Outside Hogwarts, successfully folds space, sets anchors, and opens stable spatial channels; he envisions an intercity transportation network based on these doors. 373
- His evolved Starry Sky Kite Patronus can traverse space and bypass the Anti-Apparition Charm at 12 Grimmauld Place. 196
Defensive Magic
Regulus is noted for precision, timing, and layered defense against sustained spellfire.
- Instantly forms miniature Shield Charms around himself to intercept attacks from multiple directions. 53
- Can weave Star Orbit Meditation and Bellatrix's protective symbolism into a crystal-like barrier. 102
- Possesses a Constant Shield Charm that triggers automatically under magical pressure. 340
- Deflected shadow-based attacks with a silver-white light barrier. 70
- His Guardian Will can act upon magic as a firm, boundary-preserving force rather than only a symbolic mental construct. 446
Dueling and Movement
Regulus combines conventional spells, Dark Arts, movement charms, and battlefield analysis into fluid combat sequences.
- Defeated fifth-year Travers while still a first-year, first disarming him non-verbally and later crushing him in a public duel. 14 30
- Defeated Hermes Mulciber to become Head of New Students. 28
- Links Sidestep, Sprint, Swift, and Levitation Charms while continuing spell output; Orion compares his direct combat ability to that of an elite Auror. 149
- Uses basic Slowing Charms tactically to deny opponents the opportunity to cast. 277
- Combines Transfiguration, high-temperature Fire-Making magic, and rapid movement to counter Bellatrix's battlefield-controlling Black Mist. 316
- Developed a close-range, high-pressure fighting style for his silver-haired identity, using aggressive Magic Power output, speed, and environmental manipulation against experienced Dark Wizards. 442 449 450
Dark Arts
Regulus understands and employs dangerous magic with unusually strong control.
- Withstood the Imperius Curse effortlessly. 55
- Cast the Cruciatus Curse in combat and attempted the Killing Curse, though Orion intervened. 70
- Uses Fiendfyre, which requires adult-level Magic Power reserves, emotional control, Dark Arts knowledge, and the will to restrain its destructive autonomy. 369
- Can shape Fiendfyre into a Flame Whip capable of melting stone and threatening highly mobile opponents. 318 368
- Developed and uses the Severing/Disintegration Charm, including chain conduction capable of shattering multiple targets at once. 173 174 355
- Tests opponents' instinctive reactions to Fiendfyre, the Severing Charm, and the Disintegration Charm. 394
Dark Enlightenment
Dark Enlightenment is a concentrated mass of negative energy created by Voldemort and delivered to Regulus in a Bone Box as both a gift and a test.
- Resisted its temptations through Star Orbit Meditation, layered Legilimency defenses, and a simulated personality intended to mislead the magic's influence. 156
- Treats it as a source of knowledge and power to be controlled rather than a path to follow. 158
- Can draw on its gray power to increase the force of his Magic Power in battle, though he remains wary of its influence and Voldemort's intentions. 319 325
Mental Magic
Regulus researches soul magic, Legilimency, and methods of resisting or manipulating consciousness.
- Designed layered mental defenses using Star Orbit Meditation, Legilimency mazes, barriers, and a simulated personality to misdirect intrusions. 156 174
- Resisted Abyssal Whisper's consciousness-altering attack through Star Orbit Meditation. 175
- Developed an idea for mental manipulation that would replace a target's will rather than merely override it. 83
- Used Legilimency on Fenrir Greyback to study the relationship between his human and beast selves. 395
- Learned from Greyback's fragmented mentality that light and darkness become unstable when one side is sealed away completely; both must remain active enough to interact and borrow strength. 395
Magical-Creature Modification
Regulus applies Transfiguration theory and magical-trait transplantation to improve magical creatures, principally Baruk.
- Plans to transplant traits from Occamies, Demiguises, Bowtruckles, Salamanders, and other creatures into Baruk. 287
- Has altered Baruk's body with salamander-like scale texture, deep-red bristles, and increased fire resistance. 348 415
- Granted Baruk luminous markings around its eyes and an ability to communicate with trees. 415
- Baruk has further adapted its legs into a shock-absorbing system that makes riding smoother and assists its movement while hunting. 441
Patronus
Regulus's Patronus is the Starry Sky Kite, a creature described in ancient records as comparable to, or rarer than, a phoenix. 66
- Appears as a silver-white kite that can flicker across short distances. 181
- Reflects his growing Magic Power and sense of freedom. 181
- Later develops spatial-travel capability. 196
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Blackthorn wand — a twelve-and-a-quarter-inch wand with a dragon heartstring core; after Regulus's confrontation with Voldemort, it began to show an affinity for stronger and darker spells. 326

- Despite his public reputation as a cold pure-blood heir, Freya concludes after traveling with him that the person before her differs from the image described by Voldemort and others. 179
- Regulus deliberately made his covert identity attractive rather than disguising himself as someone unattractive, considering that an unnecessary waste of his Black family features. 441
