Immortal Qi

Ascension cultivators wield Immortal Qi, a power distinct from ordinary spiritual energy. Lu Li's use of Immortal Qi confirmed the restoration of Chenping Continent's immortal path, allowing Hedao cultivators to pursue further advancement. 291

• Immortal Qi pressure can instantly evaporate the True Qi and shatter the meridians of cultivators below the Upper Three Realms. 295

Dao Rhyme

Dao Rhyme is the fundamental power used by Ascension cultivators to impose their Dao upon heaven and earth.

• In Chenping Continent, forcibly breaking the restrictions of Heaven and Earth Laws to use Dao Rhyme causes backlash and damages the user's future. 615 714
• Dao Rhyme can be used alongside innate spiritual power, allowing Ascension cultivators to express techniques rooted in their complete life experience and “true self.” 710

Karma Resistance

Ascension cultivators can partially endure or evade karmic backlash, but they cannot escape a directly confronted predetermined outcome. Altering Karma farther from its destined result produces greater backlash. 257

Ascension cultivators possess immense spiritual perception. Sun Devouring True Person Liang Huan's spiritual sense could cover every corner within ten thousand miles and perceive details as minute as wind, stone, and insects. 772

Lifespan

Ascension cultivators are often described as possessing an almost infinite lifespan, yet their existence is ultimately limited by Dao Rhyme erosion and karmic backlash. 291

History in Chenping Continent

Before Tian Ding Mountain's rise, the Dao Integration Realm was Chenping Continent's highest known stage; no cultivator had entered the Ascension Realm. Tian Ding Mountain did not itself create Ascension, however. Its emergence was described as one karmic link among many—if it had not arisen, another equivalent cause would have appeared because the world required the result. 244

After Sword Immortal Su Hongzhen's fall seven thousand years earlier, Chenping Continent's immortal path was severed. The appearance of reincarnated Ascension cultivators and Kong Yang's return to the realm marked its restoration. 277 288 291

When the Great Dao revived, Chenping Continent possessed forty-nine Dao paths, seven of which were occupied by reincarnated Ascension cultivators awaiting the removal of their Calamity Cause. 292 Later, the continent had seven active Ascension Realm cultivators following True Person Ducang's fall. 766

Ascension is constrained by the finite number of immortal paths available to a world.

• In Qingxuan Immortal Sect's domain, one hundred peak Hedao cultivators competed for only forty-nine ascension paths. 542
• A Saint governs ascensions there, and ascension requires both approval and an available place among the forty-nine Ascended Immortals. 541
• Forced ascension encroaches on the Great Dao of existing Ascension cultivators, eroding their Dao Rhymes and destabilizing Heaven and Earth Laws. 544
