Geography

Chenping Continent spans tens of millions of li in every direction. Even after living there for more than a thousand years, Chen Yan had explored less than one percent of it 411 531.

History

Origins and lost antiquity

Chenping Continent's recorded past is incomplete. Its predecessor was called Tianji Continent, a domain once governed by Tianji Saint Zuo He; before that, it was known as Yuxu Continent under Imperial Void Saint Bai Chen. The name of the realm changed with its ruling Saint. 552 759 902

After Tianji Continent's Heaven and Earth Laws collapsed, Bai Chen intervened to prolong its existence and create the incomplete Chenping Continent. This explains why Chenping arose despite Tianji Continent supposedly being doomed to removal from the Three Thousand Realms. 978

The origin of the name “Chenping Continent” remains unknown. Even Mirage Palace's oldest scriptures offered no evidence of an earlier naming convention, raising the possibility that an unknown existence erased the continent's deeper history. 461

Tian Ding Mountain Era

Before Tian Ding Mountain's rise, Chenping's cultivation world was already developed, but the Hedao Realm was considered the end of the immortal path. Mirage Palace is the only known major sect surviving from that age. 244 297

Tian Ding Mountain later became the continent's foremost cultivation holy land. Its rule standardized Chenping's written language and system of measurement, enabling a more coherent historical record across the continent. 690

Roughly sixty thousand years ago, a massive rift appeared above Tian Ding Mountain. Sect Master Qinghong True Person burned himself as fuel to activate Tian Ding Palace against the entity within, but the celestial-maiden statue in the rift destroyed the palace and annihilated the mountain's inhabitants. 646

Severed Immortal Path

Chenping produced thirty-one Ascension Realm cultivators across its known history, though no more than four are known to have coexisted in one era. Those eras were remembered as particularly harsh for both mortals and cultivators. 70

Su Hongzhen ascended roughly eight thousand years before the later crisis, but fell in the Falling Sword Mountain Range a thousand years afterward. No cultivator ascended in the following seven thousand years; failed attempts by peak Hedao cultivators revealed that the continent's immortal path had been severed. 72

Revival and new order

The destruction of Su Hongzhen's corrupted Dao Foundation—the Great Demon's Egg—revived Chenping's immortal path and increased the density of its spiritual energy. 292

This revival was followed by the Chaos of Immortals, during which Ascension Realm cultivators forcibly used Dao Rhyme beyond the limits of the Heaven and Earth Laws. The resulting collapse devastated the continent: Tian Ding Mountain's surrounding thirty-thousand-li area was stripped of life, and roughly one quarter of Chenping's population died. 601 602

True Person Ducang subsequently compelled the Five Great Sects to submit and issued an edict to unify Chenping Continent, re-establish the celestial order, and stabilize the realm. 601 603

Dao Seeking Assembly

The Chenping Continent Dao Seeking Assembly is held once every ten years and is the continent's most prestigious cultivation event. Its Heavenly Peak Dao Seeking segment allows its champion to enter Tian Ding Palace, while sect elders also lecture at the Profound Scripture Hall for disciples of lesser sects. 265 493 558

The Assembly also serves as a political stage: the Five Great Sects use it to display their strength and extend their influence through Outer Court networks. 265

Mortal and cultivator society

Chenping's cultivation world depends on mortal dynasties for population, resources, and social order. Large-scale destruction of mortal cities threatens not only ordinary people but the long-term stability of cultivation itself. 593 700

Despite the continent's size, Tian Ding Mountain's linguistic and measurement reforms gave Chenping a common spoken and written language. Regional accents remain markedly different. 690

Political Order

True Person Ducang ruled as Chenping Continent's first Sect Master after the Chaos of Immortals, intending to integrate the Five Great Sects and create a force capable of resisting the coming enemy beyond the rift. 602 666

After Chen Yan's disappearance, the order centered on Du Cang Mountain weakened. The Five Great Sects and lesser border sects began probing one another's boundaries, turning regional disputes into a prolonged struggle to define Chenping's next order. 768 771

Qin Qingyu later succeeded as the second-generation presiding head and ruler of Chenping Continent. As Moon Void True Lord, she faced renewed warnings that outsiders might target the continent's heavenly authority. 1057 1151

• Chenping's only known Dao artifact is the Tian Ding Mirror, which predates Tian Ding Mountain's recorded history. 563
