Chenping Continent spans tens of millions of li in every direction. Even after living there for more than a thousand years, Chen Yan had explored less than one percent of it 411 531.

History

Origins and lost antiquity

Chenping Continent's recorded past is incomplete. Its predecessor was called Tianji Continent, a domain once governed by Tianji Saint Zuo He; before that, it was known as Yuxu Continent under Imperial Void Saint Bai Chen. The name of the realm changed with its ruling Saint. 552 759 902

After Tianji Continent's Heaven and Earth Laws collapsed, Bai Chen intervened to prolong its existence and create the incomplete Chenping Continent. This explains why Chenping arose despite Tianji Continent supposedly being doomed to removal from the Three Thousand Realms. 978

Zuo He's actions had thrown Tianji Continent into chaos, contributed to the collapse of its Heaven and Earth and the proliferation of fallen immortals, and provoked Heavenly Monarch Qingluo's punishment. Bai Chen, who had already relinquished his Heaven and Earth Authority, returned to deal with the aftermath. The realm's missing authority and collapsed laws left it incomplete, causing Qingluo's weapons to regard it as a threat to be cleared away in the struggle against the Space-time Fault and the Outer Dao. Bai Chen consequently devised a seven-million-year scheme to save the domain. 1189 1240

The origin of the name “Chenping Continent” remains unknown. Even Mirage Palace's oldest scriptures offered no evidence of an earlier naming convention, raising the possibility that an unknown existence erased the continent's deeper history. 461

The earlier domain possessed a more developed immortal cultivation world: Tianji Continent had forty-nine cultivators at the Ascension Realm or above, including four Void Return Realm True Lords and two True Purity Realm Saints. The Tian Ding Mirror already existed in that era, supporting Chen Yan's suspicion that the later continent retained an inheritance from its predecessor despite apparent historical breaks. 563

Tian Ding Mountain Era

Before Tian Ding Mountain's rise, Chenping's cultivation world was already developed, but the Hedao Realm was considered the end of the immortal path. Mirage Palace is the only known major sect surviving from that age. 244 297

Tian Ding Mountain later became the continent's foremost cultivation holy land. Its rule standardized Chenping's written language and system of measurement, enabling a more coherent historical record across the continent. 690

Those standards matched the former Tianji Continent's written language and measurements. Chen Yan also associated Tian Ding Mountain's sudden emergence and the appearance of Ascension Realm cultivation with Bai Chen's intervention in the incomplete realm. 636 690

Roughly sixty thousand years ago, a massive rift appeared above Tian Ding Mountain. Sect Master Qinghong True Person burned himself as fuel to activate Tian Ding Palace against the entity within, but the celestial-maiden statue in the rift destroyed the palace and annihilated the mountain's inhabitants. 646

In a later comparison with Azure Crossing Continent's development, Chen Yan stated that Chenping Continent had taken seven million years from the birth of its Heaven and Earth to the emergence of its first Ascension Realm cultivator. 1235

Severed Immortal Path

Before the immortal path's revival, Chenping had produced thirty-one Ascension Realm cultivators across its known history, though no more than four were known to have coexisted in one era. Those eras were remembered as particularly harsh for both mortals and cultivators. 70 274

Su Hongzhen ascended roughly eight thousand years before the later crisis, but fell in the Falling Sword Mountain Range a thousand years afterward. No cultivator ascended in the following seven thousand years; failed attempts by peak Hedao cultivators revealed that the continent's immortal path had been severed. 72

“The path to immortality on Chenping Continent is severed.” 72

The statement was left by a peak Hedao Realm Grand Elder of Mirage Palace who failed to ascend five thousand years before the later crisis and died from Great Dao backlash. His failure made the cultivation world recognize the changes in the Heaven and Earth Laws. 72

Chen Yan later deduced that Su Hongzhen had discovered the continent's incomplete future and attempted to sever the heavens while taking on Imperial Void Saint Bai Chen's Karma. His defiance of the Heavenly Dao led to his death and the corruption of his remaining Dao Foundation into the Great Demon's Egg. 706

Revival and new order

The destruction of Su Hongzhen's corrupted Dao Foundation—the Great Demon's Egg—revived Chenping's immortal path and increased the density of its spiritual energy. 292

This revival was followed by the Chaos of Immortals, during which Ascension Realm cultivators forcibly used Dao Rhyme beyond the limits of the Heaven and Earth Laws. The resulting collapse devastated the continent: Tian Ding Mountain's surrounding thirty-thousand-li area was stripped of life, and roughly one quarter of Chenping's population died. 601 602

True Person Ducang subsequently compelled the Five Great Sects to submit and issued an edict to unify Chenping Continent, re-establish the celestial order, and stabilize the realm. 601 603

Du Cang Mountain became a shared training ground for outstanding cultivators from different sects. Chen Yan invested immense cultivation resources in raising a generation capable of confronting the Mysterious Woman and the existence behind her, recognizing that most of the established Ascension Realm cultivators had little potential for further growth. 665 768

Qin Qingyu's ascension forty-five years after the Chaos of Immortals restored the number of simultaneous Ascension Realm cultivators to seven. True Person Xihe and True Person Liuguang later joined the continent's Ascension Realm ranks; by the time Ling Lin was considered a candidate for ascension, its historical total had reached thirty-five. 696 706 707

Final catastrophe and renaming

The expanding Space-time Fault above Du Cang Mountain eventually plunged nearly one quarter of the continent into eternal night. Three centuries after the Chaos of Immortals, one-third of its former mortal dynasties had fallen and the population had declined to less than half its former level; Du Cang Mountain itself had been destroyed during the crisis. 720

The Mysterious Woman statues and the existence beyond the fault were severe threats, but the collapse of the Heaven and Earth Laws remained the fundamental danger: if the laws failed completely, the domain world would turn into nothingness. 719 722

After the final catastrophe, the realm's Heaven and Earth were completed and mended, an outcome Qin Qingyu believed was connected to Chen Yan's actions. Its laws were fully restored from the day of True Person Ducang's apparent fall, and Chen Yan later explicitly confirmed that he had completed Chenping's Heaven and Earth. 766 829 1001

News of Ducang's demise spread through the cultivation world only in the third year after the catastrophe. Most cultivators associated his disappearance with the realm's salvation and regarded him as a savior whose arrival had ended the Chaos of Immortals and whose passing had resolved the final calamity. 768

Qin Qingyu's later achievements surpassed those of every previous Chenping cultivator. When several True Purity Realm cultivators invaded to seize the realm, she defeated them and obtained Chenping's authority of Heaven and Earth. The domain was thereafter renamed Yuexu Continent. 1205

Her breakthrough to the True Purity Realm, achieved on the Wanfa Platform, occurred nearly simultaneously with the shattering of the heavens and the outsiders' arrival. The invaders competed against one another for the realm's single portion of heavenly authority rather than acting as a united force. Qin Qingyu concealed her actual strength and feigned weakness before defeating them all in a single stroke. 1205

Yuexu Continent's prosperity

The two centuries following Qin Qingyu's victory were peaceful and prosperous. Moon Void Mountain became the central symbol of her authority, while the cultivation world expanded to nineteen cultivators at the Ascension Realm or above, more than seventy Hedao Realm cultivators, and a greatly increased number of Divine Ability Realm cultivators. 1205

Mister You nevertheless recognized a structural limit beneath this prosperity. The realm still possessed only forty-nine immortal paths, thirty of which remained unoccupied, so continued growth would eventually intensify competition for access to those paths. 1205

Suspected connection to Heavenly Monarch Tianding

Chen Yan later connected the realm's forty-nine Immortal Daos, Tian Ding Mountain's mysterious origins, and the Tian Ding Mirror with information about Heavenly Monarch Tianding. He noted that neither Ascension Realm cultivators nor True Purity Realm Saints could refine a Dao artifact, and that no one in Chenping Continent had been able to truly activate the mirror. These facts suggested an origin beyond the continent's known cultivation powers. 1240

Chen Yan did not believe that Heavenly Monarch Tianding had necessarily established Tian Ding Mountain personally. Instead, he suspected a profound connection mediated by interference with Karma, with the Tian Ding Mirror as the most likely link. If Wugou Saint's account was entirely true, he reasoned that Chenping Continent might eventually become the foremost front line against the Outer Dao's invasion, rather than merely a realm protected by one Heavenly Monarch's Great Dao Boundary Stele. This remained his inference rather than a confirmed development. 1245

The Supreme Cardinal Elders of the Five Great Sects were regarded as the de facto rulers of the cultivation world before Chen Yan's unification campaign. 583

The Five Great Sects historically controlled ninety percent of Chenping's cultivation resources. Top-tier and first-rate sects held another ninety percent of the remaining share, leaving comparatively little for second-rate sects and rogue cultivators. Over ninety percent of cultivators remained within the Lower Three Realms throughout their lives. 299

Before Chen Yan's entry into the Ascension Realm, Tian Ding Mountain accounted for twelve generations of Ascension Realm Sect Masters, while the Five Great Sects together had produced seventeen. Fusheng Immortal Venerable and Falling Star Sword Immortal Su Hongzhen were the two rogue cultivators among the thirty-one recorded ascended figures. 666

Dao Seeking Assembly

The Chenping Continent Dao Seeking Assembly is held once every ten years and is the continent's most prestigious cultivation event. Its Heavenly Peak Dao Seeking segment allows its champion to enter Tian Ding Palace, while sect elders also lecture at the Profound Scripture Hall for disciples of lesser sects. 265 493 558

The Assembly also serves as a political stage: the Five Great Sects use it to display their strength and extend their influence through Outer Court networks. 265

Holding the event on schedule after the Great Tribulation of Tian Ding Mountain served to reassure the cultivation world that the Five Great Sects still controlled the situation. Participation by lesser sects also depended on cultivation qualifications: reaching the Spirit Passage Realm provided a ticket to the Assembly, while tens of thousands of lower-realm cultivators gathered at the mountain's foot for a separate event. 213 495

Mortal and cultivator society

Chenping's cultivation world depends on mortal dynasties for population, resources, and social order. Large-scale destruction of mortal cities threatens not only ordinary people but the long-term stability of cultivation itself. 593 700

Despite the continent's size, Tian Ding Mountain's linguistic and measurement reforms gave Chenping a common spoken and written language. Regional accents remain markedly different. 690

The Great Yi Dynasty was the Southern Region's most prosperous mortal dynasty in national strength, economy, and culture, and lay six thousand li from Xingtian Gate's Chenji Peak. In the southwest, Mirage Palace bordered four ancient mortal countries, including Anlong Kingdom; those countries had existed for tens of thousands of years without wars between them and maintained constables rather than armies. 220 476

In comparisons with Heaven-Stabilizing Continent, Chen Yan observed that Chenping's cultivators generally regarded mortals as insignificant beings. He attributed Heaven-Stabilizing Continent's more balanced coexistence to restraints and inherited social practices rather than any fundamental difference in human nature. 958

Heaven and Earth Laws and immortal paths

The domain's forty-nine immortal paths remained constant across its successive names and rulers. In the Yuxu era, Bai Chen distributed access through the Great Dao Competition, in which the winner could obtain a Great Dao and ascend while the losing contestant's sect faced annihilation. 759

Chenping's incomplete Heaven and Earth Laws severely restricted cultivators at the Ascension Realm and above. Using their true strength could bring karmic backlash, and Chen Yan initially inferred that the realm could sustain cultivators only as far as the Void Return Realm. An attempt to reach True Purity could attract the attention of the existence beyond the Space-time Fault. 563 636

After the final catastrophe, the restored laws could fully withstand Ascension Realm cultivators' power. This did not make their battles harmless: their destructive capabilities still threatened the continent's inhabitants and could devastate the entire cultivation world. 768

A medium-sized ferry required roughly half a month to travel between the Southern and Northern Regions, a distance approaching ten million li, while a Dao Integration Realm cultivator could make the journey in about an hour. 231

True Person Ducang ruled as Chenping Continent's first Sect Master after the Chaos of Immortals, intending to integrate the Five Great Sects and create a force capable of resisting the coming enemy beyond the rift. 602 666

His rule initially rested on overwhelming martial strength rather than a redesigned system of resource distribution. Du Cang Mountain stood above the existing order while barely participating in its allocation of cultivation resources, allowing the established powers to accept his supremacy without guaranteeing their lasting loyalty. 657

After Chen Yan's disappearance, the order centered on Du Cang Mountain weakened. The Five Great Sects and lesser border sects began probing one another's boundaries, turning regional disputes into a prolonged struggle to define Chenping's next order. 768 771

The shared training of sect prodigies at Du Cang Mountain had weakened traditional regional separations. Many later Supreme Elders had known one another since childhood, but the same integration enabled sects to extend their influence into one another's territories once Ducang's restraining presence was gone. 768 769

Qin Qingyu later succeeded as the second-generation presiding head and ruler of Chenping Continent. As Moon Void True Lord, she faced renewed warnings that outsiders might target the continent's heavenly authority. 1057 1151

She claimed leadership at a gathering in Du Cang Hall convened by Mister You. Her decision was intended to preserve Ducang's order and prevent a struggle among the ascended cultivators from undoing the miraculous restoration of the realm's Heavenly Dao. She suppressed the other immortals and maintained Du Cang Mountain's leadership, although the four sects outside Xingtian Gate resisted her sectarian origins while Xingtian Gate hoped she would favor it. 770 771 829

Qin Qingyu ultimately defeated the invading True Purity Realm cultivators and seized the authority of Heaven and Earth. Her acquisition of that authority ended Chenping Continent's political era and established Yuexu Continent under her rule. 1205

As Moon Void Sage, she presided over the subsequent two centuries of peace and growth. Her victory established both her sovereign authority over the domain and her position as the strongest cultivator in its history. 1205
