Background

Yan Li was a sixteen-year-old mine slave in the Obsidian Mine Vein's seventh layer. His parents had died from exhaustion or mine collapses, leaving him taciturn, hungry, and fearful of the overseers who worked the slaves under threat of starvation. Beneath that numbness, he carried a deep hatred of the system that had reduced him to expendable labor. 355

When an overseer ordered Zone C to excavate visibly unstable rock, a collapse left Yan Li on the edge of death. At that moment, a Chaos Martial Seed and a wisp of Li Yuan's divine thought were deployed into him. The Seed repaired his shattered body by devouring stone-and-metal essence, while Yan Li's own consciousness remained dominant. 355
