Above the Gray Fog.
"Mr. Temperance, you wanted to see me?"
The Moon, Emlyn, sat in his high-backed chair and cautiously addressed the blood-red figure beside him.
It was not Monday. None of the other Tarot Club members were present, and the mysterious Mr. Fool had concealed himself as well. Alone with this dangerous, powerful figure, Emlyn could not help feeling a little afraid.
"Yes. There's something I need to ask you."
Emlyn heard him reply calmly, "It concerns the followers of the Primordial Moon."
Those hunting targets?
He froze for a moment, then excitement surged through him. "You have a lead on them?"
That would be wonderful news!
"No. Quite the opposite."
Temperance glanced at him. "I wanted to ask whether you had any news of them."
"Me...?"
Emlyn looked puzzled. Temperance explained, "Yes. I need information on these people. You publicly asked about them at the last gathering, and some time has passed since then. I thought you must have found at least a lead by now..."
His words left Emlyn deeply embarrassed. He had no idea how to answer, so he could only maintain an awkward silence.
Temperance finally gathered the truth from his reaction. "...Don't tell me you still haven't found anything?"
Did he have to put it so bluntly?
Emlyn struggled to speak. "Well, I'm still working on it..."
Silence followed, a silence almost too painful to bear.
Emlyn was nearly ready to ask Mr. Fool to send him back when Temperance finally spoke, sounding both helpless and irritated. "Forget it... Just tell me why you're looking for them and what exactly your Sanguine are doing."
