"The Numinous Episcopate?"
Luther repeated the name, quickly recalling what he knew about the organization.
According to the Church of Evernight's internal records, the Numinous Episcopate was a secret organization originating in the Southern Continent. It was said to have first been established by certain descendants of Death to resurrect him. After the nations of the Northern Continent began their colonial invasion of the Southern Continent, the organization had nearly been wiped out. In the end, however, it had stubbornly survived and even expanded into the Northern Continent.
According to Azik, the Numinous Episcopate had been trying to resurrect Death, but had never succeeded. Eventually, some of its members had a sudden inspiration: if they couldn't resurrect Death, why not simply create a new one themselves?
"Humans can create gods?"
At this point, Luther couldn't help blurting out his disbelief.
"I don't know exactly how they do it, but it should be possible, right?"
Klein weighed his words as he answered, his tone speculative. "Like the Hidden Sage worshipped by the Moses Ascetic Order, who came to life from an abstract symbol and became a genuine evil god... Besides, aren't there things like anchors? They also shape a god's image."
"Hmm, I suppose you have a point."
Luther considered it. If that was the case, it would explain why so many abnormalities had appeared in the Death pathway-they were all influences from the very top.
"Did they succeed?"
"Apparently, it's still being created, but it can already respond passively to some prayers," Klein said, his expression darkening slightly.
It brought back some unpleasant memories. As time passed, Mr. Azik was becoming increasingly unfamiliar, as cold and solitary as a mausoleum, no longer the kind, generous man Klein had first met.
To recover all his memories, Mr. Azik would undoubtedly continue
