Was the Berserk Sea no longer berserk?

Over in the City of Silver, the Former Chief seemed to have been affected as well... Sensing the change in the atmosphere around him, Luther suddenly formed a few suspicions.

Could the Evernight Goddess have done something to the artificial God of Death?

"!"

He abruptly reined in his thoughts and glanced around guiltily. Only after confirming that the hooded lady was nowhere nearby did he relax a little.

"Luther."

Meanwhile, Klein had already seen Azik off. He walked up to Luther with a puzzled expression. "Just now..."

He really wanted to know what had happened inside that mausoleum.

"Shh-"

Luther gestured for silence.

A moment later, he raised his index finger and pointed upward. He did not mean, "Someone up in the heavens is watching," but rather, "Let's talk once we're up there"... Naturally, "up there" referred to Above the Gray Fog.

... "You mean that lady just now was the Goddess?!"

After hearing Luther's explanation, Klein's eyes immediately widened.

"Yes. Based on my previous experiences and the information I've obtained within the Church, I'm fairly certain."

Luther nodded.

"...I see..."

Once his shock subsided, Klein drew a deep breath and spoke slowly, looking as though he had already suspected as much.

The two leaned back against their bronze chairs and fell briefly into thought.

"Why do you think the Goddess intervened?"

Luther suddenly asked.

"For... the stability of the world? To stop Death from resurrecting?"

"Are you serious?"

"Uh..." Klein hesitated for a moment, then shook his head with a wry smile.

By now, he had long since stopped believing the simplistic claim that "the gods love the world." The Goddess had done so much, even going so far as to descend through a vessel. She certainly had a deeper purpose.
