"Shisui, it really is you!"
Uchiha Shisui was still being tormented by his conscience when someone called out to him. He turned around and saw Uchiha Itachi.
"Oh, Itachi. What's up?"
"Shisui, you haven't come to see me in ages."
Uchiha Itachi complained. In the whole clan, he got along best with Shisui. Shisui's way of thinking had deeply influenced him, but just when Itachi wanted to get to know him better, Shisui seemed to become a different person. He was busy with something all day and impossible to find. And seeing how close Shisui was with Karot made Itachi feel as though something important had been taken from him. It left him feeling awful.
"I've been too busy lately. I'll come see you in a few days."
Shisui felt a little embarrassed. With a boss like Karot, he was practically being worked like a donkey. If Karot hadn't been so generous in the end, Shisui would have wanted to quit.
"Well, if it isn't Uchiha Itachi! Out shopping with your girlfriend?"
Karot's voice barged in at the worst possible moment. He was holding several skewers of Three-Color Dango. He was obscenely rich.

"No, it's not like that! I just asked Itachi to help me pick out some things for tomorrow's exam."
"That's all."
A straight guy didn't have a girlfriend.

Karot offered Uchiha Itachi a skewer of Three-Color Dango. Itachi wanted it, but was too embarrassed to take it.
"Here. Take it."
Karot didn't give Itachi time to hesitate and simply shoved it into his hand.
"I won't keep you two. Shisui, spend some quality time with Itachi. I'm giving you the rest of the day off. Don't be late tomorrow."
