The system didn't answer Karot's question right away. The Dragon Vein's frenzied self-destruction left it no attention to spare; it could only focus all its efforts on absorbing the Dragon Vein's power and stabilizing the space.
"Boom."
Another purple star began to explode, and the blast sent Karot flying. There was simply no way to dodge. Explosions were going off everywhere. If he didn't think of something soon, he was as good as dead.
All he could do now was pray that the system would manage to control the Dragon Vein's power soon.
"Host, get into that rift, quickly."
The system's voice sounded in Karot's mind. After absorbing some of the Dragon Vein's power, it had gained a measure of control over this space. It hurriedly opened a passage for Karot to escape this dangerous place.
"Whoosh."
Karot leaped inside at once. It was enough for him to know that the system wouldn't harm him. As soon as he was through, the rift snapped shut. All that remained was the showdown between the system and the Dragon Vein.
"Ah!"
The force of space pulled at him, and Karot cried out in pain despite himself. Every inch of his skin felt the searing agony. Karot was certain that if Naruto Uzumaki had crossed time and space through a passage like this, he would have been torn apart long ago. What Karot didn't know was that the passage he was in was basically a smuggling route. Naturally, he wasn't getting the same treatment as Naruto Uzumaki, the Child of Destiny.
A rift suddenly appeared in midair, like a zipper being pulled open. A figure fell out, and then the zipper was pulled shut again.
"Thud."
Karot slammed into the ground, embedding himself in the dirt.
"Cough, cough. At least I made it."
