Chapter 13: I Still Don't Want to Return to the Hall of Heroes
Watching Mash collapse from exhaustion, Dog Brother narrowed his eyes and said coldly, "Little girl, is your will to protect your Master really this fragile? Fine. If you still can't release your Noble Phantasm, I'll kill you and your Master without hesitation!"
The moment Dog Brother said that, everyone exploded.
"What the hell are you talking about? What does this have to do with Su Mo?!"
The Director stepped forward to stop Dog Brother. In her eyes, Mash's inability to release her Noble Phantasm didn't mean Su Mo had to die with her.
"Master, shall I teach this Servant who has insulted you a lesson? Just give me a hand up, and I can burn trash like him to death in an instant!"
Kiyohime glared darkly at Cú Chulainn, her words brimming with killing intent.
"Kiyohime, don't make trouble. No matter what danger I face later, do not interfere. That's an order!" Su Mo ordered with a headache.
"I... understand." Kiyohime stared at Su Mo for a long time. Perhaps realizing she could not change his mind, she reluctantly retreated to the side.
Was it really okay for me to trust Mash like this?
Su Mo silently watched Mash, but in the end, he gave her an encouraging look. Everything was left unspoken.
"Senpai... I..." Mash was overwhelmed with emotion. That was right—Su Mo had risked his life to train a "defective" Servant like her. It would have been a lie to say she wasn't moved.
"Even if I am a fake Servant, unknown Heroic Spirit, please lend me the power to protect Senpai!"
Mash gripped her shield tightly. Though she was exhausted to the point of collapse, her gaze had never been firmer. Her resolve to protect Su Mo was simply too strong!
"Then let us begin a true battle between Servants!"
Dog Brother traced one glittering golden Rune Magic symbol after another through the air while chanting an obscure incantation.
"My magecraft is Flame Cage, the Green Giant like thorns. Karma, the feed of human affairs—sacrifice of destruction! Come forth, all shall return to dust without regard for good or evil!"
As the final chant fell, Dog Brother swung the curved club in his hand toward Su Mo and Mash. A giant engulfed in blazing flames burst from the ground beneath the training field and appeared before everyone!
"Holy crap... this damn dog actually used his Noble Phantasm!"
Feeling the terrifying pressure radiating from the fire giant, Su Mo could no longer stay calm. He hurriedly raised his hand and cast Divine Command on himself and Mash to steady their nerves.
"Hey, Master! Didn't we agree you wouldn't use skills to prop up the little girl's defense? How are we supposed to train her like this?" Dog Brother roared unhappily.
"Shut up! I still don't want to return to the Hall of Heroes!!!" Su Mo shot him a vicious glare. Dog Brother immediately swallowed the words at his throat, wearing an expression of unspeakable bitterness.
Thus, during the ten minutes that Divine Command remained active, Mash felt her strength return, and her sense of crisis was no longer so intense. Holding up her shield, she withstood wave after wave of Dog Brother's Noble Phantasm.
But Mash also realized that the boost Su Mo had given her would not last forever. As the skill was about to fade, that intense sense of crisis once again filled her heart.
Glancing at the uneasy Su Mo, Mash gritted her teeth. "I have to protect Senpai! Unknown Heroic Spirit, please lend me your power—grant me the strength to protect Senpai!!!!"
The fire giant's burning fist, carrying terrifying heat, struck toward Mash and Su Mo. The next moment!
A miracle happened. Mash's unwavering determination to protect what mattered finally resonated with the shield in her hands. That resonance spread outward from the shield, forming an invisible wall that radiated pure white light and blocked every one of the fire giant's attacks!
"Damn it, that dining table the Round Table guys used for meals finally woke up! Hell, you scared me to death!"
Su Mo clutched his chest and panted heavily, then fiercely mocked the shield in Mash's hands. As an FGO player, how could he not know that the Heroic Spirit fused with Mash was Galahad? And the shield in Mash's hands was the Round Table's dining table. What he had not expected was that this table would be so damn finicky—it had to wait until he was practically dead before waking up.
