Background
Su Mo was a Soviet marshal whose military reputation became his Heroic Spirit legend after death. Awaking as a Heroic Spirit during World War II, he discovers that his loyal Soviet forces have become his Noble Phantasm. Despite the title bestowed upon him, he insists he was never a warmonger and had grown tired of war in life, preferring the prospect of a quiet villa. 2 3
Upon meeting Gaia and Alaya, Su Mo negotiates for a physical body and the authority of a Master. Gaia grants his demands through the Heroic Spirit System, an FGO-like interface that can summon Heroic Spirits and upgrade his own skills and Noble Phantasms. 3
Gaia assigns him to save Chaldea and repair the Singularities responsible for humanity’s impending extinction. He is immediately transferred into Burning Fuyuki, where he becomes one of Chaldea’s principal Masters while also operating as a Heroic Spirit himself. 4 5 6
Personality
Su Mo combines battlefield composure with opportunism. He can rapidly assess enemies, delegate allies according to their strengths, and use overwhelming force when conventional combat would be inefficient. His response to threats ranges from careful negotiation to airstrikes, armor columns, and massed firepower. 38 220 289 447
He is notably self-deprecating about the “God of War” legend, privately attributing much of his success to luck, timing, and manipulative tactics rather than genuine military brilliance. Nevertheless, he understands how to exploit the reputation associated with his name. 3 4 158 498
Su Mo is protective of allies in immediate danger, particularly Mash, but can also be callous, provocative, and controlling toward Servants when pursuing his goals. His use of Command Spells and his tendency to manipulate others’ desires regularly create friction within Chaldea. 7 21 152 153 380
“The God of War is merely an empty title; I am far from meeting the standards for such a name. Just call me Su Mo.” 199

A battlefield-control skill used in conjunction with Su Mo’s other buffs and Noble Phantasms.
- Strengthens allied combatants while suppressing enemy attack and defense. 11 393

- Fearful Reputation weakens opponents who know of his military legend. 4
- Saturation Bombing can authorize long-range air strikes that devastate and paralyze a target area. 4

Post-Counter Force Arsenal
Following his evolution, Su Mo gains access to exceptionally destructive weapons from his Inherent Domain.

- Uses Reinforcement and Projection Magic to create and strengthen weapons. 21 464
- Uses Replacement Magic to swap positions and evade attacks. 464
- Possesses fifty top-quality main Magic Circuits and forty top-quality auxiliary circuits, specialized for converting Magic Power. 465
- His Gaia-created body can manifest multiple Servants while supporting skills, Noble Phantasms, and army summons. 420
- Prolonged Servant manifestation and repeated Noble Phantasm use can still exhaust his Magic Power and cause him to collapse. 20 339

Story Role / Major Arcs
Chaldea and Burning Fuyuki
Su Mo arrives in Burning Fuyuki as both Master and Caster-class Heroic Spirit. He protects Olga Marie and Mash from Skeleton Soldiers, establishes himself as a combatant rather than merely a support unit, and summons Kiyohime using a Summoning Ticket. 5 7 9
He supports Kiyohime and Mash against hostile Servants, including Hassan and Medusa, while learning that continuous summoning and Noble Phantasm use can deplete his Magic Power. 11 13 20
Early Singularity Repairs
During the first Singularity, Su Mo expands Chaldea’s roster with Servants such as Lancelot and later recruits Arash after saving him from dissipation. His support skills and military manifestations make him a strategic threat recognized even by enemy Servants. 38 63 108
After the Singularity’s repair, Chaldea’s scoring system rewards him with materials and currency, enabling further upgrades to his Heroic Spirit abilities. 151 158
Moon Cell Holy Grail War
In the Moon Sea Plain School and SE.RA.PH, Su Mo discovers the virtual nature of the world, recovers the Commemorative Blonde, and becomes Nero’s Player. He relies on his Servant network, Mana Transfer capabilities, and tactical observation to navigate the Lunar Holy Grail War. 163 168 171 179
He earns Dan Blackmoor’s sincere recognition as the “God of War,” though Su Mo personally rejects the grandeur of the title. 199
Roman Singularity
Su Mo aids Nero’s Rome against the United Empire, temporarily acting as her guest general. He recruits or cooperates with numerous Heroic Spirits, including Boudica, Spartacus, Jing Ke, and Lu Bu’s forces. 257 258 282 283
His upgraded support suite overwhelms the Young Emperor and Zhuge Liang’s enhanced forces, demonstrating that his buffs can rival specialized strategist Servants. 289
Counter Force Conquest and Expanded Power
Su Mo ultimately conquers the Counter Force and Gaia, awakening with a new level of strength and an expanded technological arsenal. His subsequent use of Storm of Bullets demonstrates firepower described as surpassing Gilgamesh’s Gate of Babylon. 499 504
Camelot and the Sixth Singularity
After Chaldea’s contracts are disrupted, Su Mo enters the Sixth Singularity with Scáthach, Okita Souji, and Black Saber to pursue Gudako and confront Camelot’s forces. 572 573
He helps free Mordred from the Lion King’s influence, investigates the Atlas Institute, and forms a contract with Saber Lily to oppose the Magus King. 610 628 640
Babylonia Mission
Su Mo prepares for a Spiritron Transfer to Mesopotamia around 2600 BC, an era dangerously close to the Divine Age. Chaldea’s objective is to locate and retrieve the Holy Grail despite lacking precise coordinates. 685
Trivia
- Su Mo privately identifies his extraordinary success in life with “Luck EX,” rather than the military genius attributed to him by his legend. 158
- His summoned Soviet military forces are treated as Noble Phantasm manifestations rather than ordinary modern weapons. 2 117
- His true body remains on the Throne of Heroes; the body used in the world is a vessel created by Gaia. 589
