Background

Li Ji'an encountered Guagua by chance in a previous life. What began as an experiment in beast taming became a lasting companionship: Guagua protected him through Rejuvenation, remained unusually low in demonic nature, and proved more dependable than many human acquaintances 165 186.

Before his next Rejuvenation, Li Ji'an spent years studying the Beast Taming Path and searching for a way to keep Guagua under control after his Spirit was purified. He used a Soul-Hosting Ant queen to preserve a wisp of his Spirit carrying the Beast Taming Token's mark, allowing him to establish a new contract after returning to childhood 83 85 86.

The re-established contract initially left Guagua confused, as Li Ji'an's aura and Spirit had become unfamiliar. It nevertheless guarded him underground during his vulnerable early cultivation period and gradually became affectionate again 86 99.

Li Ji'an later dissolved Guagua's Spirit Contract as a test of its loyalty before another Rejuvenation. After Li Ji'an returned to childhood again, Guagua recognized him through his explanation and immediately became protective; they later formed a new contract with Guagua's full cooperation 229 284.

Appearance

Guagua is a large Vermilion Toad. At mid-stage Tier 1, it reached Li Ji'an's waist when squatting; ten years later, it was nearly shoulder-high 77 79.

Guagua is simple, emotionally direct, and strongly attached to Li Ji'an. Unlike spirit beasts controlled primarily through fear and contract-based coercion, it responds to Li Ji'an's companionship, concern, and rewards 86 209.

It is exceptionally stubborn when advancing. It repeatedly forced attempts at its Tier 2 breakthrough despite grave injury, endured five days in the blood pool, and shattered its Demon Core three times in pursuit of a superior core 125 328 331.

Despite its courage, Guagua has clear fears. It instinctively recoils from snake-type Yao Beasts due to bloodline suppression and remains wary of the Dragon Soul, whose bloodline pressure affects it 255 385.
