The realm had been reunified. The one who had seized the divine artifact was the Datong Marquisate, though the word "Marquisate" had now been removed, and it was called the Datong Kingdom.

The Datong Imperial Court and the Chu Imperial Court followed the example of their ancestors and first signed an alliance pact. During the first twenty years, Chu Kingdom seized the Liangjiang region, the True Sun Mountain region, and Jianglin Road, while the Datong Marquisate took the lead in occupying Beiyuan Road, the Upper Capital region, and Qingpu Road. Then, from a commanding height, it fought a decisive battle against Chu Kingdom's army at the Nong River.

On the seventeenth day of the sixth month in Dao Palace Zhengli Year 74, the Datong Marquisate diverted the waters of the Nong River and swallowed three hundred thousand of Chu Kingdom's elite troops. It then drove straight into True Sun Mountain and buried alive two hundred thousand surrendered Chu soldiers.

Yet Chu Kingdom did not collapse because of this. They swiftly organized the prefectural troops of the Southern Four Routes to resist, even raising a Demon Race army that successfully blocked the Datong Marquisate's forces in the northern part of Ningzhou Road.

For the next thirty years, the two kingdoms remained locked in confrontation. But perhaps because the south was prosperous and Chu Kingdom's ninth emperor was excessively debauched and licentious, the border armies became unstable. The Datong Marquisate seized the opportunity to capture the Liangjiang region.

Ten years later, in the sixth month of Dao Palace Zhengli Year 114, during the second year after Chu Kingdom's tenth emperor ascended the throne, the southeastern naval forces announced that they were joining the Datong Marquisate.

In the tenth month of that same year, Chu Kingdom's new emperor opened the city gates and
