Background / History

Wang Sheng was transferred to Wanbao County from the Hundred Households Office, where he and other transferred officers faced entrenched local powers such as the County Office and City Defense Division. His cousin is Wang Liwei, a Hundred Households officer in Dongyang Prefecture. 30 100

As General Banner, Wang Sheng recognized Chen Bin's potential early. After Chen Bin killed a Blood Change Realm fox demon, numerous ghouls, and a Jade Marrow Realm tiger demon, Wang Sheng promoted him to Demon Suppression Captain and granted him access to cultivation and saber manuals. 15

During the demon crisis in Wanbao County, Wang Sheng supported Chen Bin's authority, ordering officers of every rank to treat Chen Bin's commands as his own. He repeatedly submitted merit reports on Chen Bin's behalf and arranged rewards including a Marrow Cleansing Pill. 39 47 53

Wang Sheng helped expose Lu Hanwen's collusion with demons, fought Lu Hanwen after his demonization, and then feigned grave injuries to establish control over the county. His supposedly chronic injuries were partly a calculated political disguise. 53 65 66

After Wanbao County's demons were purged, Wang Sheng joined Chen Bin and Yan Jie in eliminating Hu Ye of West Mountain and the Mountain Lord of South Mountain. Wang Sheng is pragmatic, politically shrewd, and fiercely committed to Wanbao County's safety. He is willing to use intimidation, public displays, manipulated evidence, and feigned weakness to secure authority against corrupt officials and demonic infiltrators. 47 53 66
