He gritted his teeth so hard that blood seeped from his gums. In the end, he still... slowly moved a step to the side, clearing the way. Seeing this, Sunlight and Moonlight Bodhisattvas hurriedly stepped aside as well, heads lowered, not daring to meet Lin Zhu's gaze.
Lin Zhu sneered at the sight and said nothing more. Turning to Sun Wukong, he said,
"Let's go, Great Sage. Back to the Heavenly Court, to sit in your 'prison.'"
Sun Wukong's blood boiled as he watched. His admiration for Lin Zhu was beyond measure! With nothing more than a stone, a spear, and a few harsh words, he had frightened a Buddha Ancestor into not daring to move, obediently making way! This was the bearing of a true powerhouse! He quickly replied,
"Right away! Hell God, big brother! Let's go!"
As he spoke, he deliberately made a face at Yaoshi Buddha before happily following Lin Zhu.
Guanyin Bodhisattva had watched everything from beginning to end without intervening. Nor had she been able to.
As she watched Lin Zhu's carefree retreating figure—white robes fluttering, a vicious spear in hand, treating a Buddha Ancestor as if he were nothing, coming and going as he pleased—a deeply complicated thought suddenly surfaced in her heart, one that even she found absurd.
Several hundred years had passed... yet this fellow seemed not to have changed at all. He was still so willful, arrogant to the bone, yet somehow... he seemed always to uphold some kind of "justice" or "reason" that he himself believed in.
Compared to those "Buddhas" of Western Heaven, who spoke endlessly of benevolence and morality while secretly scheming, compromising, and even betraying others, his undisguised sincerity and his prideful disregard for all Rules instead seemed... exceptionally unique.
