Could it be—the Elder Dragon Crossing?
Whenever Nergigante was involved, it was easy to think of that familiar term. Xingyan couldn't help feeling a little dazed.
The Elder Dragon Crossing happened once every ten years. If Nergigante had appeared at the southernmost tip of the Great Sand Sea because it wanted to hunt those old things crossing the sea, that meant Xingyan had been in this world for almost ten years.
He'd also gone from a weak, newborn Glavenus hatchling into a big guy. Perhaps he wasn't even a Glavenus anymore, but had become a truly unknown monster.
As an intelligent monster who'd risen above lowly pursuits, Xingyan always reviewed his experience and reflected on his shortcomings after every major battle. This time was no exception.
Without a doubt, there was only one reason today's battle had cost him so dearly and forced him to make a strategic retreat: the evolutionary blueprint he'd drawn up for himself still had problems, and serious ones at that.
Even ordinary dragons had tremendous vitality, and battles often came down to which side could better endure injury or pain. In fights of that caliber, Xingyan was currently a little too delicate.
For a monster like Glavenus, which had evolved over countless millennia, the normal method of quickly dissipating heat was through the cooling plates on its back. The distance was short and the process fast, which meant that even if a Glavenus fought another monster until it was down to its last drop of blood, and even if its cooling plates were smashed to pieces, it could still release heat directly through the openings in its back.
Xingyan, however, couldn't. He'd altered the cooling channels inside his body, so all the heat was directed to the cooling vents in his tail. He'd also given
