Background and History

Di Jun breaks free of Great Immortal Yang Mei's control during a confrontation involving Sect Master Tongtian 91. Later, the physical bodies and Primordial Spirits of Tai Yi and Di Jun are separated. The physical body becomes the Demon Race's Di Jun, while the Primordial Spirit becomes Eastern Emperor Tai Yi 104 105 107.

Di Jun pursues the Demon Race's heirloom, the River Diagram and Luo Book, from its former leader. When the treasure marks his arm and rejects him, he cuts away the marked flesh. The former leader dies, and Di Jun takes control of the Demon Race 107 108.

Seeking recognition as Demon Emperor, Di Jun claims the Heavenly Dao scroll and uses the River Diagram and Luo Book to defeat an ambush 109 110. He and Tai Yi then take control of the Heavenly Court; Di Jun declares himself Demon Emperor and proposes that their faction rule the heavens while the Witch Clan governs the ground 111. He later assumes Tai Yi's duties during his brother's absence and discovers how much work the position entails 121.

Personality

Di Jun is ambitious and willing to use violence to secure authority. He threatens the former Demon Race leader, cuts away his own marked flesh rather than abandon his claim, and challenges rivals for control of the Heavenly Court 107 109 111. He is also openly defiant toward Dao Ancestor Hongjun, questioning both his authority and the value of his sermon 117 118.
