But Baku was too large to shrink, and tumbled all the way along.
Every house they touched was smashed to pieces. Everyone in their path—shinobi and civilians alike—was crushed beneath them, blood staining the ground.
At last, with a deafening roar, Baku's body slammed into Hokage Rock.
The rock split apart, and rubble rained down. When the dust cleared, only a huge crater remained in Hokage Rock, with Baku's entire body embedded in it. The Third Hokage's face was mangled beyond recognition.
Baku was a crafty one, too. It struggled to its feet, shook its head, and looked around. Seeing Konoha engulfed in battle and reduced to ruins, it promptly canceled the Summoning and made a run for it.
Pain slowly descended from the sky again, hovering in midair as he looked down at the nearly frenzied crowd and spoke coldly:
"Shinobi of Konoha!"
"Have you felt pain?"
"My parents were killed by Konoha shinobi right before my eyes, just like this!"

Looking at the bodies strewn across the ground, the Third Hokage trembled with rage and roared, eyes bulging:
