Desert City and Lin Ming

Qing Lin grows up facing hostility because of her Snake People ancestry. At the Desert Iron Mercenary Group, repeated rejection and blame leave her deeply insecure. Xiao Ding assigns her to help the visiting Lin Ming wash and prepare for the morning; unlike the treatment she expects, he addresses her courteously 203.

Lin Ming’s acceptance helps her begin to smile and trust him. When a clothing-store assistant discriminates against her, he intervenes. Around the same time, he notices the first visible signs of her Jade Snake Three Flower Pupils 204.

Her sensitivity to Snake People alerts Lin Ming to a presence he suspects is Queen Medusa. Later, with his encouragement and physical restraint of the target, Qing Lin overcomes her fear and subdues the Two-Headed Fire Spirit Snake. Their new connection allows her to communicate with it during the search for an Exotic Flame beneath the lava 207 208 213.

Heavenly Snake Mansion

Green Barbarian seeks to recruit Qing Lin into Heavenly Snake Mansion, initially using the faction’s strength to pressure Lin Ming. Qing Lin refuses to leave him, but reconsiders when Green Barbarian argues that training will help her keep pace with his growth. She ultimately chooses to go, and Green Barbarian swears to protect her 279 281 282 283.

The mansion devotes exceptional resources to her development. Its master, also her teacher, treats her like a daughter. Her gratitude nevertheless becomes entangled with resentment over a forced-marriage matter 807.

After hearing troubling news from the Jia Ma Empire, she secretly leaves the mansion. Ya Fei and Elder Hai help her learn that Lin Ming has gone to the Middle Continent. When Heavenly Snake Mansion comes under attack by the Lion Nether Sect and Hall of Souls, Qing Lin returns with Lin Ming and Xiao Yi Xian.
