Background / History

Luohu was a central figure in the Dao-Demon Conflict. He was defeated by Hong Jun alongside Yin Yang, Qian Kun, and Yang Mei; the battle shattered his primordial spirit into four pieces and left him severely weakened. His remaining spirit was sealed within a dark space until Li Mo encountered him through the Innate Gourd Vine. 34 35

Luohu initially attempted to deceive and intimidate Li Mo into removing his seal, promising to accept him as a disciple before threatening to destroy his soul. The seven gourds instead absorbed his demonic energy; six exploded, while the final black gourd contained his primordial spirit. This gourd became the Innate Supreme Treasure known as the God Slaying Gourd, with Luohu forcibly transformed into its artifact spirit. 34 35

As the gourd’s master, Li Mo can restrict Luohu’s movements and directly harm or destroy him through their connection. Luohu’s former arrogance quickly gave way to obedience, although he continued to pursue the recovery of his lost strength and revenge against Hong Jun. 35 39

Appearance

Luohu commonly manifests as a humanoid figure wreathed in dense demonic energy, often standing or riding atop the black God Slaying Gourd. His true features are frequently obscured by his aura. 37 38

Personality

Luohu is proud, violent, and deeply resentful of his defeat in the Dao-Demon Conflict. He considers himself the Demon Ancestor and initially reacts with fury when Li Mo refuses to address him with that title. His threats toward Li Mo are extreme, but his position as an artifact spirit leaves him unable to resist Li Mo’s authority. 34 35

He is eager for status and combat. When Di Jun offers him the position of Demon Emperor, Luohu immediately imagines spreading demonic cultivation across the Great Desolation, only for Li Mo to dismiss the idea. He is similarly enthusiastic whenever battle, malevolent aura, or vital essence offers a path toward restoring his strength. 39 100

Over time, his relationship with Li Mo becomes one of genuine gratitude and loyalty. He repeatedly acknowledges Li Mo as his master, assists in dangerous battles without hesitation, and is moved when Li Mo returns his primordial-spirit fragments and preserves the God Slaying Spear for him. 65 131 183

Li Mo encounters Luohu’s sealed primordial spirit while investigating the Innate Gourd Vine. Luohu fails to manipulate Li Mo into freeing him and is instead absorbed into the final surviving gourd, becoming its artifact spirit. 34 35

Rescue at Buzhou Mountain

On Li Mo’s orders, Luohu destroys the Mirror Spirit and later intervenes in the siege around Di Jun’s group. He heavily injures Yuqing Yuanshi, devours Minghe Daoist, destroys the Hongmeng Measuring Ruler, and forces Dong Wang Gong’s faction to retreat. 36 37 38

Recovery of Lost Power

Luohu tracks the scent of his essence blood and primordial-spirit fragments to Zhang Yuan and Penglai Island. After defeating the Dragon Turtle and refining a recovered fragment, he advances to early Quasi-Saint and continues searching for the remaining portions of himself. 65 68

Li Mo’s Hidden Enforcer

Luohu acts as Li Mo’s concealed protector and weapon during conflicts with Zhunti, Jieyin, the Four Fierce Beasts, and the Ancestral Witches. His presence allows Li Mo to project strength while keeping their master-artifact relationship hidden from most of the Great Desolation. 54 100 127

Ascension to Sainthood

After recovering further primordial-spirit fragments and receiving the Primordial Pill from Li Mo, Luohu eventually becomes a Saint.
