At Boundless Divine Mountain, the natural Dao flowed in wisps.
Endless Dao principles filled the air, like cranes flying together. Silver threads welled up from the earth, like sacred springs bubbling over, while peals of thunder rang out. It was mysterious and profound.
Time passed without measure in the Primordial World. About a hundred years had gone by since Beichen left and Houtu arrived.
Houtu sat beneath the dais, listening intently as Great Immortal Yang Mei expounded the Dao. At times, her brow relaxed; at others, she looked puzzled.
Yang Mei had been speaking with great relish when he suddenly stopped and sighed. "Alas, the Primordial World is full of turmoil!"
Great Immortal Yang Mei then asked Houtu, "Houtu, how much of the Dao I just explained did you understand?"
Houtu thought it over carefully and answered honestly, "It seems I understood half, but the other half was completely beyond me!"
"The last time I went to listen to Old Ancestor Hongjun expound the Dao, I couldn't understand any of it. Here with Master, I can at least understand some!"
Yang Mei nodded, looking confident. "Mm. Houtu, we'll stop here for today. Go back and think it over carefully. Take your time to digest it!"
"Does Master have any other instructions?"
Houtu rose and respectfully asked Yang Mei.
"Mm!" Yang Mei replied kindly. "Houtu, once you leave Boundless Divine Mountain and enter the Primordial World, do whatever you wish. Whatever you do, you don't need to consider whether I approve!"
"Remember: follow your heart. Whatever it tells you to do, do it. Whatever you do, I will support!"
Houtu took Yang Mei's instructions seriously. After pondering for a moment, she nodded to herself. "Master, Houtu understands!"
Houtu took her leave, still mulling over Great Immortal Yang Mei's words again and
