Background

The Witch Race is a powerful but comparatively small primordial race descended from Great God Pangu. Its Twelve Ancestral Witches are regarded as Pangu's true descendants, while the Pangu Blood Pool is identified as the race's place of origin. Pangu's essence blood is said to have nurtured the race's great figures. 10 56

Its homeland is harsh: old battlefields have left explosive residual forces that disperse ambient cultivation energy, leaving vast stretches of sand and little vegetation. Rather than abandon this territory, the Witch Race adapted by focusing on physical-body cultivation. 38

The race's members are naturally warlike and grow through combat, but they generally remain within their own territory rather than expanding against other races. Their small numbers are offset by exceptional individual strength and solidarity between tribes. 38 77 84

Appearance

Witch Race members are not uniformly humanoid. Their bloodlines produce markedly different forms, including descendants of Xing Tian who lack heads and bear their eyes and mouths on their chests. 38

  • Most Witch Race warriors fight and travel on the ground rather than flying. 82
  • Their bodies can rapidly enlarge in battle, though this transformation leaves them weakened afterward. 93
  • Their powerful bloodline aura is recognizable to other Witch Race members. 78 79
  • Their physical bodies heal visible injuries quickly, although internal injuries remain difficult to recover from. 88

Society and Cultivation

The Witch Race values strength above all else. Powerful warriors earn immediate respect, while martial accomplishments determine status and promotion. 78 86

Most members cultivate their bodies rather than spiritual energy. Spiritual-energy cultivators are rare; those who succeed may become Great Shamans, and tribes will send promising members to Great Shaman tribes for training. 82

  • Ancestral Witches — Twelve supreme figures whose combined power anchors the race's greatest formation. 10
  • Great Witches — High-ranking Witch Race powerhouses, including Xing Tian, Hou Yi, Kuafu, and battlefield commanders. 39 41 79
  • Grand Unity Golden Immortals — Core battlefield commanders and reinforcements during the Witch-Demon War. 79 82
  • Great Shamans — Rare Witch Race members capable of cultivating spiritual energy. 82

Abilities & Skills

Physical-Body Cultivation

The Witch Race's primary cultivation path is the strengthening of the physical body, developed in response to its spiritually depleted homeland. Their bodily cultivation is described as more formidable than that of the Demon Race. 38

  • Members possess dense bloodline power rather than relying chiefly on spiritual-energy cultivation. 75
  • Their physical strength allows one Witch Race warrior to contend with several demonic beasts. 75
  • Physical power can be projected outward as a ranged attack rather than being limited to close combat. 93
  • The Primordial World Body Tempering Technique is considered the race's most precious cultivation method. 45

Bloodline Burning

In desperate circumstances, Witch Race combatants can burn their bloodlines for heightened power.

  • Used as a near-suicidal, fight-to-the-death measure. 84
  • Causes immense harm for every additional moment it remains active. 84
  • Warriors cease the technique once the immediate threat retreats to avoid further damage. 84

Great Formation of the Heavenly Gods and Fiends

The Witch Race's ultimate weapon is a formation performed by all Twelve Ancestral Witches.

  • The twelve Ancestral Witches combine the strength of twelve peak Quasi-Saints. 10
  • The formation summons a phantom image of Pangu. 10
  • Pangu's Phantom can rival the pinnacle of Saints and nearly annihilated the Demon Race during the first war. 10 11
  • The formation cannot unleash its full power if even one Ancestral Witch is absent or incapacitated. 16
  • In the second war, the loss of two Ancestral Witches prevents the formation from reaching full power. 13

Equipment / Sacred Sites

  • Pangu Blood Pool — The Witch Race's origin site near Buzhou Mountain; its power can awaken Pangu bloodlines and accelerate physical-body cultivation. 56
  • Primordial World Body Tempering Technique — The Witch Race's treasured body-refinement method. 45
  • Great Formation of the Heavenly Gods and Fiends — The race's supreme formation, requiring the Twelve Ancestral Witches. 10

Relationships

  • Great God Pangu — Progenitor and revered ancestor of the Witch Race; the Pangu Blood Pool is its place of origin. 10 56
  • Houtu — An Ancestral Witch who warns her race of the Demon Race's threat, urges defensive preparations, and emphasizes the formation's vulnerability if an Ancestral Witch is lost. 16 37
  • Xing Tian — Great Witch who commands reinforcements and identifies Qin Feng and Feng Lei as potential future Great Witches. 79 105
  • Hou Yi and Kuafu — Great Witches involved in the conflict with the Golden Crows; Hou Yi kills Taiyi's sons, while Kuafu pursues the surviving Lu Ya. 41
  • Demon Race / Heavenly Court — Primary enemy in the Witch-Demon Wars. The Demon Race possesses superior numbers, while the Witch Race holds greater top-tier strength. 75
  • Qin Feng and Feng Lei — Mistaken for Witch Race members because of their aura and later accepted into the army, where they are promoted and treated as prospective Great Witches. 75 78 86

Story Role / Major Arcs

Chat Group Warnings and War Preparations

Houtu learns through the Chat Group that the Witch Race will defeat the Demon Race in the first Witch-Demon War, but that both races will later perish together. She warns the other Ancestral Witches, who initially dismiss the Chat Group as a trick. 10 13 16

After Houtu explains that the Great Formation of the Heavenly Gods and Fiends would be weakened by the loss of even one Ancestral Witch, the race begins monitoring the Demon Race, avoiding private duels, and establishing defenses around its mountain-ringed territory. 16 37

The Golden Crow Crisis

After the ten Golden Crows descend and scorch the Primordial World, the Witch Race decides to shoot them down to protect its territory and exploit a chance to weaken the Heavenly Court. 39

Hou Yi kills Taiyi's Golden Crow sons, leaving Lu Ya as the survivor, while Kuafu attempts to pursue him. The incident intensifies the hatred between the Witch Race and the Heavenly Court and helps bring the war forward. 41

First Witch-Demon War

The Witch Race enters war against a Demon Race force that greatly outnumbers it but lacks equivalent top-tier power. A single Witch Race warrior can confront several demonic beasts, and the race's forces rely on their physical strength, bloodline, and battlefield cohesion. 75

During fighting around second-tier battlefield sector 31, Witch Race forces struggle to withstand repeated Demon Race assaults. Eighteen Grand Unity Golden Immortal reinforcements are intercepted by forty Demon Race Grand Unity Golden Immortals and are nearly overwhelmed before assistance arrives. 79 82 83

Qin Feng and Feng Lei become major assets to the Witch Race after joining its ranks. Their victories earn them promotions to commanders and widespread belief that they may become future Great Witches. 78 79 86

Foretold Second Witch-Demon War

The Chat Group reveals that the second war ends with the mutual destruction of the Witch and Demon Races. The Witch Race's formation fails to reach full power because two Ancestral Witches are missing, while the Demon Race's own grand formation is undermined by traitors. 13

Notable Quotes

“This is not much of a secret. My Witch Race's twelve Ancestral Witches, when they perform the Great Formation of the Heavenly Gods and Fiends, with the power of twelve peak Quasi-Saints, are capable of summoning the phantom image of Father God Pangu!” — Houtu 10

“What if something happens to one of us Ancestral Witches? How can the full power of the formation be unleashed then?” — Houtu 16

Trivia

  • The Witch Race's territory is surrounded by mountains on three sides, leaving only one main approach for attackers. 37
  • Despite their martial nature, the Witch Race is portrayed as highly united; conflicts between its tribes are rare and short-lived. 84
  • The race considers the creation of the Immortal Slaying Flying Knife from two Great Witches' power a disgraceful chapter of its history. 26
