At this moment, Jieyin activated the Seven Treasures Wonderful Tree, while Zhunti held a verdant bamboo staff—the Six Roots Pure Bamboo.
The two of them held nothing back. Joining forces, they shattered the two tornado blades with all their strength.
Before they could catch their breath, Kong Xuan gave a cold snort.
With a sweep of his wings, two streams of Five-Colored Radiance, like bolts of brocade, swept directly toward them.
The Seven Treasures Wonderful Tree and Six Roots Pure Bamboo, which had been blazing with precious light, let out a mournful hum and instantly dimmed, unable to unleash even one or two tenths of their power.
The two had no time to grieve over the loss and immediately moved to employ other methods.
The Golden-Winged Great Peng gave a chilly smile.
"Swallow Heaven Devour Earth!"
A gigantic maw came down, devouring them fiercely.
The savage suction was impossible to resist even for Jieyin and Zhunti, despite their Quasi-Saint cultivation.
With Kong Xuan's Five-Colored Radiance constantly sweeping away their power, they were swallowed in an instant.
Jieyin snorted coldly. "Kong Xuan, even if you devour the two of us, you still cannot do anything to us."
Kong Xuan did not reply. His Spiritual Sense stirred slightly.
The Universe Cauldron rumbled into motion.
Zhunti was horrified. "Senior Brother, Kong Xuan actually refined the Universe Cauldron into his body. The two of us are inside the cauldron right now."
We are in grave danger! Jieyin cried bitterly to himself.
The Universe Cauldron could refine all things; the two of them knew its might well.
What was more, it was being driven by Kong Xuan, whose cultivation stood at the peak of the Quasi-Saint realm.
The two swiftly communicated through transmission. Zhunti immediately understood.
A smile piled onto his face. "Fellow Daoists, why take this so seriously? This was all a misunderstanding. Please release my Senior Brother and me first."
Kong Xuan snorted. "You two disturbed my master's rest. How can I allow you to come out and continue making trouble?"
As soon as his words fell, the Universe Cauldron shook with a thunderous roar.
Streams of the power of creation rapidly filled the entire cauldron. Jieyin and Zhunti discovered in horror that their spiritual power was being swiftly drained away, while their Primordial Spirits were faintly being torn apart by an invisible force.
Jieyin hurriedly begged for mercy. "Fellow Daoists, show mercy. We guarantee that once we are released, we will never act recklessly again."
"I do not trust the word of you two!" Kong Xuan said coldly.
Zhunti's expression turned ugly as he said in a deep voice, "We are disciples under the Dao Ancestor. Do you two truly intend to disregard the Dao Ancestor's face?"
Kong Xuan sneered. "Naturally, the Dao Ancestor's face must be respected. Let us see whether you two can endure the might of my Universe Cauldron."
With that, he suddenly accelerated the refinement.
At that moment, the Golden-Winged Great Peng's brow twitched. He transmitted, "A powerful expert is about to appear. Although Kunpeng isolated the disturbance just now, Master's senses are keen. He may already have been disturbed."
"So we are just letting them off that easily?"
"The greater matter takes priority. It seems to be Nuwa's aura. Release them for now, lest we disturb Master," the Golden-Winged Great Peng said softly.
Kong Xuan nodded. With a sweep of his wings, his body swiftly became a black dot.
In terms of speed, perhaps only Kunpeng in the Primordial World could contend with him.
Within a few breaths, Kong Xuan had already flown an unknown number of tens of thousands of miles away from the small courtyard.
Jieyin and Zhunti were in a miserable state, their hearts still pounding with lingering fear.
"Thank you, Fellow Daoist, for showing mercy. We were indeed too rash earlier."
The two cupped their hands and bowed.
"Hmph. If there is a next time, I will not spare you!" Kong Xuan snorted, then instantly flew back.
The moment he returned to the small courtyard, the Golden-Winged Great Peng and Kong Xuan swiftly transformed into little chicks.
Just then, Jiang Ping came out, his eyes still bleary with sleep.
"What happened? Why did it seem a little noisy just now?"
He looked around but found nothing unusual, then casually paced about the courtyard.
Before long, Nuwa descended outside the small courtyard.
She was deeply puzzled. Earlier, she had clearly sensed the auras of four Quasi-Saints. Why were even Jieyin and Zhunti nowhere to be seen now?
Steadying herself, she carefully examined the small courtyard before her.
Astonishment filled her heart. This courtyard was far from simple.
Though its design looked ordinary, it secretly accorded with the true intent of the Heavenly Dao. Living here for a long time would greatly benefit one's cultivation.
It seems some great power of the Primordial World has secluded himself here. I must treat him with courtesy.
Nuwa followed the steps, moving with lotus-like grace as she gently knocked on the door.
Inside the courtyard, Jiang Ping's heart jolted. A visitor?
It had better not be some ancient monster of the primordial world. I'd barely had a few peaceful days.
Jiang Ping opened the door uneasily, and his eyes lit up when he saw Nuwa.
Nuwa was dressed in a pale yellow gauze gown. She looked about sixteen, with an otherworldly air; like a clear lotus, she swayed with graceful poise, her immortal charm ethereal and misty.
"May I ask this fellow Daoist's name?"
When Nuwa saw Jiang Ping, her heart stirred slightly. He was actually an ordinary Acquired Lifeform, without even the slightest trace of cultivation.
It was Jiang Ping's first time coming into contact with a primordial lifeform. Having gone so long without speaking to anyone, he was somewhat nervous.
He said awkwardly, "Fairy, you're too courteous. How could I be some fellow Daoist? I'm merely an ordinary lifeform."
Nuwa was exceedingly intelligent. From that single sentence, she already knew that the lifeform before her did not recognize her at all.
She considered it carefully. During the Dao Ancestor's lectures at Purple Cloud Palace, she had never seen him before.
Although she had not deliberately released her pressure, the aura of a Quasi-Saint was still not something an ordinary lifeform could meet face-to-face without bowing its gaze.
Though this lifeform seemed somewhat restrained, he had clearly not been affected by her pressure at all.
Could it be that his cultivation realm surpassed hers? Otherwise, how could he conceal his realm's aura so flawlessly that she could not sense a thing? Such methods belonged only to Saints.
Nuwa could not fathom him for the moment and could only reply with a smile, "You jest, fellow Daoist. I was passing through this place. I hope I have not disturbed your quiet cultivation."
Jiang Ping had calmed down by then and hurriedly said, "Fairy, if you do not find this humble little courtyard too shabby, please come in and rest for a while."
"Very well." Nuwa nodded and entered the small courtyard.
She casually but swiftly surveyed the courtyard, faintly puzzled.
The little courtyard looked quite ordinary, nothing like the place where a great expert would cultivate in seclusion.
Look over there—two ordinary chicks, along with an earth dog and a wild cat. They were all ordinary lifeforms, inferior even to certain Plant and Wood Spirits.
The Golden-Winged Great Peng looked at Nuwa and transmitted his voice to Kong Xuan. "Can Nuwa see through us?"
Kong Xuan replied, "Rest assured. Within this little courtyard, none beneath a Saint can see through our true forms."
"Besides, how could Nuwa possibly compare to Master in terms of cultivation realm?"
The Golden-Winged Great Peng mused, "Master's path of cultivation truly is unfathomable. All these years, I have never sensed even a shred of pressure or cultivation from him."
"Still, even if I had ten lives, I would not dare harbor any other thoughts toward Master."
Kong Xuan sighed softly. "After that disturbance caused by the two Western Daoists, I'm afraid many great experts throughout the primordial world have sensed it. I only worry that Master will be displeased next, since he prefers peace and quiet."
The Golden-Winged Great Peng snorted. "Don't worry. I will do my utmost to preserve this peaceful environment. Whoever dares make noise outside the little courtyard, I will not let him off lightly."
"May I ask Fairy's name?" Jiang Ping asked with a smile.
Nuwa hesitated inwardly, unsure how to answer.
Seeing that Nuwa seemed troubled, Jiang Ping chuckled. "It's all right if Fairy finds it inconvenient to say. After all, I'm just an ordinary person."
Nuwa froze. "An ordinary person?"
Jiang Ping instantly realized that there were probably no humans in the primordial world yet, and quickly explained, "I mean an ordinary lifeform."
Nuwa nodded as if she understood, though not entirely, astonishment rising in her heart.
The lifeform before her called himself an ordinary person. Perhaps he was a great expert born at the dawn of chaos, possibly an existence on par with the Dao Ancestor.
With that thought in mind, Nuwa once more examined the little courtyard.
This time, it was as though a layer of mysterious veil had been lifted, leaving her utterly shaken.
