Background / History

Jiang Ping transmigrated into the Primordial World and received a system intended to make him self-sufficient. The system taught him numerous practical life skills before severing its connection once he had mastered them. Left believing himself unable to cultivate in a dangerous world, he chose to remain in a small courtyard, raising animals and living quietly. 1

His isolation ends when Nuwa visits the courtyard. Although Jiang Ping calls himself an ordinary being, Nuwa finds that her Quasi-Saint pressure has no visible effect on him and cannot perceive his cultivation or aura. 3 Visitors repeatedly interpret his tea, food, calligraphy, paintings, and household objects as extraordinary treasures, while Jiang Ping treats them as ordinary possessions. 9 15 63 93 146

During a dream-like journey into pre-Primordial Chaos, Jiang Ping exists first as a wisp of spiritual energy, absorbs Primordial Qi, and eventually reforms in human shape. He gains control over teleportation-like movement, observes Pangu's plan to open the heavens, and remains unseen by the Three Thousand Gods and Demons. 104 107 When Pangu leaves behind an inheritance, Jiang Ping instinctively takes it after Hongjun, Rahu, and other Gods and Demons fail to touch it. 123 He later awakens in his courtyard convinced that the experience revealed real history, though he still considers himself cultivation-less and keeps the inheritance's presence secret. 125

Jieyin and Zhunti later attempt to seize his courtyard, test him with the Great Buddha Seal, and forcibly take him to Spirit Mountain after deciding he is an ordinary being. Jiang Ping refuses their recruitment and eventually returns to his home. 128 130 134 145 The incident leaves him mentally exhausted and more determined to remain where he feels safe. 146

As the Demon Race and Witch Clan become involved with his household projects and palaces, Jiang Ping provides practical instruction, mediates disputes, and proposes that the Demon Race rule the heavens while the Witch Clan rules the earth. Both sides tentatively accept the arrangement. 67 72 168 174

Later, Jiang Ping encounters impoverished members of the Human Race, beginning with a child caught stealing vegetables. He saves the child from a Spotted Leopard with a crossbow. 199 Taihao subsequently seeks to become his disciple; Jiang Ping refuses the title but allows him to remain as a general helper. 206 207

Jiang Ping retains his original human appearance after reforming from Primordial mist in Chaos. 104

He is hospitable and patient, offering food and tea to visitors, teaching Nuwa pottery, explaining construction tools to Dayi, and trusting Taihao with work around the courtyard. 9 50 72 207 He can also be cautious and self-aware: he avoids prying into the identities of powerful acquaintances, believing that knowing too much without the strength to protect himself is dangerous. 176

Despite his preference for quiet domestic life, Jiang Ping stands his ground when threatened. He refuses the Western Sect's recruitment, confronts Zhunti over the attempted seizure of his home, and physically retaliates when East King Duke attacks him. 129 134 149
