Inside the principal's office at Spirit Master Academy, Lingyuan Douluo lightly tapped the desk with her fingertips, the wing-shaped ornaments on her shoulders trembling slightly with the motion. Her gaze swept over Lin Fan's file. "The Pope's prized disciple, Innate Soul Power at level twenty... and he has a close relationship with the Grand Priest..."
"He's more interesting than those little brats in Golden Class."
"Six is the age for playing... I really don't understand why the Grand Priest makes him train himself half to death every day. Poor thing."
Early the next morning, sunlight streamed through the gap in the curtains and fell across Lin Fan's face. He groggily opened his eyes and saw Bibi Dong standing beside the bed, holding a brand-new school uniform.
"Get up and change." Bibi Dong spoke concisely.
She tossed the clothes over, her gaze sweeping over the iron weights still strapped to his legs. "You don't need to take off the weights. Get used to them. They won't be noticeable under your clothes anyway."
Lin Fan jolted upright with a wail, but he did not dare disobey. He could only drag his heavy steps away to change.
The school uniform had Spirit Hall's signature white-and-gold color scheme, with the Spirit Hall emblem embroidered on the left breast. It made him look upright and straight as a pine.
He looked himself over in the mirror and nodded in satisfaction. "Not bad. Pretty handsome."
Bibi Dong glanced at him. "Whether you're handsome isn't important. Strength is what matters. Let's go to Spirit Master Academy."
Upon arriving at Spirit Master Academy, Bibi Dong led Lin Fan straight into the main building and to the principal's office. The moment the door opened, a woman in black-and-gold armor came into view. The wing-like ornaments on her shoulders accentuated her sharp, imposing aura. Her short hair was neat and crisp, and her eyes flashed like lightning. She was none other than Lingyuan Douluo.
"Your Eminence the Pope." Lingyuan rose and bowed. Her tone was respectful, but her gaze swept over Lin Fan intentionally or otherwise.
"This is Lin Fan," Bibi Dong said flatly. "Starting today, he will study in Golden Class. I hope you will take good care of him."
The corners of Lingyuan's lips curled upward. "Of course. I've already looked over Lin Fan's file. Twin Martial Souls, Six-winged Angel, Innate Soul Power at level twenty, and he's your disciple. Naturally, we will focus on nurturing such talent."
Her tone softened slightly as she looked at Lin Fan. "Lin Fan, welcome to Spirit Master Academy. I'll take you to Golden Class shortly."
Lin Fan sat on the large sofa nearby, lazily leaning back as he watched Lingyuan Douluo pour tea.
Her figure really was impressive, curvy in all the right places and full of presence. One look told him she was not someone to be provoked.
"Little brother Lin Fan," Lingyuan Douluo said with a smile, her tone sounding quite gentle, "Golden Class currently has ten students. If your cultivation falls behind or you fail the year-end assessment, you will be eliminated."
She set down the teacup and looked at Lin Fan with a hint of probing in her eyes. "Golden Class has an unwritten rule: newcomers must choose someone to spar with. Do you want me to help you avoid it?"
The moment Lin Fan heard that, he perked up and grinned. "No need. I want to fight all ten by myself!"
Qian Daoliu and those Worshippers were always beating him up. At last, it was his turn to beat up someone else!
Lingyuan Douluo poured two cups of tea and handed one to Lin Fan. The steam billowed into his face, scalding him until he bared his teeth, yet he still stubbornly tried to look cool.
"Good, you've got ambition!" She suddenly leaned closer, the tips of her hair brushing over Lin Fan's nose. "I heard the Grand Priest gave you a Spirit Bone. Can you tell big sister principal what its age is?"
As she spoke, she took a sip of tea. Her tone was casual, as though they were merely chatting.
"Hundred Thousand Year Right Arm Bone of the Bright Holy Dragon!" Lin Fan gulped down the tea as though it were liquor, then boldly wiped his mouth.
"What?!"
Lingyuan Douluo nearly sprayed out the tea in her mouth. She hurriedly swallowed it, then choked and coughed several times as she frantically wiped the corner of her lips.
"A hundred thousand years?!"
Seeing her expression, Lin Fan felt rather pleased with himself. He nodded. "That's right, a hundred thousand years."
Lingyuan Douluo fell silent for several seconds, looking at Lin Fan with a complicated expression and mixed emotions in her heart.
She had cultivated so painstakingly for so many years, yet she did not even have a single Spirit Bone.
Of course, she had obtained Spirit Bones over the years, but either their quality was too low, or their quality was sufficient but their attributes conflicted with her fire attribute.
Yet this brat before her had received a Hundred Thousand Year Spirit Bone at such a young age, and it was even light-attributed. It was simply absurd.
She suddenly understood why Qian Daoliu trained him half to death—if it were her, she would want to beat someone up too.
With a Hundred Thousand Year Spirit Bone already in hand, he definitely had to train hard!
Jealousy really did make people unrecognizable~
"H-how did you get it?" she could not help asking.
"Just good luck." Lin Fan shrugged, looking utterly relaxed. "The Grand Priest was in a good mood that day, so he casually gave it to me."
Lingyuan Douluo: "..."
She suddenly felt as though she had entered the wrong world.
"Fine." She set down her teacup, her tone somewhat complicated. "It seems you really do have some skill."
Lin Fan looked at her with a grin. "Of course. Otherwise, why would the Pope let me enter Golden Class?"
Lingyuan Douluo stood up, straightened her clothes, and looked at Lin Fan. "Let's go. I'll take you to Golden Class."
Lin Fan stood as well, patted his pants, and followed her out.
"Oh, right." Lingyuan suddenly turned back to glance at him. "You said you wanted to fight ten by yourself... You weren't joking, were you?"
Lin Fan grinned. "I never joke about strength."
Lingyuan Douluo's lips twitched slightly. She said nothing more, but inwardly, she had already begun observing a moment of silence for the Golden Class students.
This kid was probably here to tear the class apart.
Inside Golden Class
"Nana, I heard someone new is joining our class." A red-haired youth stood by the window with his arms crossed and asked, "You're Your Eminence the Pope's disciple. Do you know who it is?"
This person was none other than the future Golden Generation's—Yan!
In the corner, Tall Thin Guy snickered as he toyed with a gold coin between his fingers. "Do you even need to ask? Anyone who can enter Golden Class either has monstrous talent, or—"
He deliberately drew out the last word. "They've got someone backing them."
"Yeah, yeah." Another, somewhat chubby student raised his eyebrows and asked, "Sister Nana, this person isn't some connected kid, is he? Everyone in our class is a genuine monster. Don't let him hold us back."
Hu Liena frowned, about to speak when the classroom door creaked open.
Lingyuan Douluo strode in, followed by a tall, upright youth.
The white-and-gold school uniform made him look exceptional, though his steps were slightly heavy as he walked—clearly, weights were still strapped to his legs.
"Quiet." Lingyuan Douluo swept her gaze around the room. "Allow me to introduce him. This is the new student, Lin Fan."
Though Tall Thin Guy and the chubby student looked down on others, they were not fools. They would not insult him to his face. Someone who could be placed here could not have terribly poor talent, no matter what.
With Lingyuan Douluo still present, the two of them forcibly swallowed the mockery that had reached their lips.
The chubby student rubbed his hands together and smiled. "Teacher Lingyuan, according to the rules, newcomers have to choose someone to spar with, right?"
Lingyuan Douluo nodded, then looked at Lin Fan. "You can choose for yourself, or I can arrange it."
The entire class's gaze fixed on Lin Fan.
