Background / History

Tang San’s soul came from another plane and was placed into the body of a recently deceased infant through the Asura God’s intervention. The Asura God initially designated him as a successor and assigned him accumulated continental luck; after Lin Fan awakened Twin Martial Souls, the god transferred half of that luck to Lin Fan instead. 3

While searching for his first Soul Ring with Yu Xiaogang, Tang San lost the chance to kill a Mandala Snake himself when Lin Fan intervened. He ultimately accepted a 300-year poisonous Blue Silver Grass Soul Ring, whose resulting Blue Silver Bind was publicly ridiculed for its weakness. Tang San concealed his anger while resolving to retaliate against those who humiliated him. 6 7 8

At Shrek Academy, he and Xiao Wu participated in the entrance trials and fought Zhao Wuji together. Both were severely injured, exposing the gap between them and a Soul Sage. 53 55 Lin Fan later claimed the Man Faced Demon Spider Tang San had pursued, leaving him with an 1,800-year Mandala Snake as a replacement third ring. 74

After being weakened by Jade Phosphorous Serpent poison, Tang San was possessed by a future counterpart calling himself Tang God King. The future soul consumed Tang San’s original soul and inherited his memories, only to discover that Lin Fan had altered the expected course of events, including Tang San’s Soul Rings, companions, and lost opportunities. 85

Tang San was arrested after attacking a man who argued with Xiao Wu over the Tang Sect Orphanage. Following a month in prison, he destroyed the orphanage gate and plaque, then killed its guards when confronted. 120 121

Learning that the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well’s Immortal Herbs had already been taken, he attempted to restore his advantage through the Blue Silver Forest. Lin Fan had destroyed the forest and taken the Blue Silver King; in desperation, Tang San drained the remaining Blue Silver Grass life force, creating the Darkness Blue Silver King. 128 134

Personality

Tang San is fiercely protective of Xiao Wu and reacts violently to perceived insults against her. His defense of her at Heaven Dou City escalated into assault, imprisonment, and later vandalism and murder at the Tang Sect Orphanage. 120 121

He is driven by resentment over opportunities taken by Lin Fan, including Soul Rings, the Blue Silver King’s inheritance, and the Immortal Herbs. These losses intensify his determination to gain power, Soul Bones, and divine inheritance by any means available. 74 128 134

Following Tang God King’s possession, his outlook becomes more calculating and ruthless. He conceals his motives from Tang Hao, considers sacrificing Xiao Wu for his path to godhood, and sees the altered world as a theft of the destiny he expected to possess. 127 133

Appearance

Tang San is initially described as appearing around six years old, though Yu Xiaogang presents him as eight when questioned by Chrysanthemum Douluo. 7

  • His expression often darkens when humiliated or deprived of an opportunity. 7 74
  • After the Blue Silver Forest incident, his Martial Soul manifests as black, scale-patterned vines marked with blood-red lines and blade-like, venomous leaves. 134
  • Tang God King’s soul form appears as a man several times more handsome than the unconscious younger Tang San. 85

Abilities & Skills

Blue Silver Grass / Darkness Blue Silver King

Tang San’s primary Martial Soul began as Blue Silver Grass. After forcefully absorbing the Blue Silver Forest’s remaining life force, it transformed into the Darkness Blue Silver King. 7 134

  • Blue Silver Bind — His first Soul Skill binds a target with Blue Silver Grass; the initial version had modest toughness and faint poison. 7
  • Third Soul Skill: Blue Silver Bind — The Mandala Snake ring produced thorned, black-patterned vines with a paralytic poison effect. It can restrain up to two targets, but fire and comparable-strength opponents break it readily. 74
  • Life-force extraction — Connected his vines through the Blue Silver Forest and drained residual life force to force a Martial Soul awakening. 134
  • Limitation: His Darkness Blue Silver King vines were frozen and shattered by Skywater Academy’s ice-based attacks. 141

Mysterious Heaven Skill

A cultivation method Tang San uses to circulate Soul Power and, later, to extract life force from Blue Silver Grass. 120 134

  • He pushed it to its limit to drain the Blue Silver Forest. 134

Mysterious Jade Hand

A palm technique used in close combat. 120 121

  • Sent Liu Lao San flying with a strike to the chest. 120
  • Was used alongside Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track to overwhelm the orphanage guards. 121

Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track

A movement technique that grants sudden bursts of speed and evasive mobility. 120 121

Purple Demon Eye

An eye technique that Tang San activates during combat and intimidation. 85 120

  • He used it while resisting Tang God King’s attempted possession. 85
  • Its development is a reason he seeks the Spirit Gathering Wisdom Skull. 145

Hidden Weapons

Tang San possesses hidden weapons and remains interested in acquiring stronger ones.

  • He threatened internally to test Pear Blossom Rain Needles on those who humiliated him. 7

  • Five ten-thousand-year Soul Bones — Presented to his teammates before the Soul Master Tournament. 135
  • Three Blood Spirit Ginsengs — Medicinal items that push Soul Power through bottlenecks but drain potential and slow later cultivation. 135

Relationships

  • Tang Hao — Father. Tang San seeks his protection and assistance, while Tang Hao supports his attempts to regain strength despite his own severe injuries. 127 133 134
  • Xiao Wu — Close companion and emotional weak point. Tang San attacks a civilian after he verbally confronts her; later, he considers sacrificing her for his pursuit of godhood. 120 133
  • Yu Xiaogang — Teacher. Guided Tang San’s early Soul Ring acquisition, though his choice of a Blue Silver Grass ring leaves Tang San humiliated and dissatisfied. 7 8
  • Lin Fan — Rival and source of Tang San’s resentment. Lin Fan disrupts his Soul Ring acquisitions, takes the Blue Silver King, and fundamentally changes the path Tang San expected to follow. 74 128 134
  • Tang Xiao — Paternal uncle who helps Tang San and Tang Hao reach the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well and escape its defenders. 127 128
  • Dai Mubai, Ma Hongjun, Oscar, and the Shrek students — Teammates to whom Tang San offers Soul Bones and Blood Spirit Ginsengs in exchange for cooperation toward the Soul Master Tournament. 134 135
