Background / History
Li Shuidao was born into the Li Clan of Divine Wood City, a family dependent on the Black Mountain Five Poisons Sect. Even before entering the sect, he understood the harsh hierarchy governing cultivator clans and believed that only ruthless detachment or overwhelming power could break such constraints 4.
He entered the Five Poisons Sect under the Golden-Faced Gentleman alongside Li Shuilang. Though initially regarded as a servant purchased for Merit Points rather than a true disciple, Li Shuidao treated the Golden-Faced Gentleman as his master. His donation of all 350 remaining Merit Points moved the Golden-Faced Gentleman to teach him the Heavenly Frog Movement Technique 24 76.
Li Shuidao later became a leading figure of the Li Clan, contributing cultivation manuals, serving at Heavenly Pool Fortress, and seeking resources to strengthen the family. His rise also made him politically valuable—and vulnerable—to the Lan Family and other major powers 132 179 361.
After returning to the Five Poisons Sect following a three-year mission, he proved himself through Law Enforcement Hall duels and the Heavenly Ranking competition. His fusion of the Cold Moon Sword Art with the Taiyin Frost Condensation Sword Art earned him the title Taiyin Cold Sword 351 354.
In later years, Li Shuidao adopted several identities, including Lan Shuidao after marrying into the Lan Family, Fahai during his Buddhist cultivation, and Li Jidao while operating within the Heavenly Origin Sect 427 581 638.
Personality
Li Shuidao is cautious, politically aware, and highly protective of his secrets. He generally avoids exposing his true abilities or committing himself without a clear advantage, preferring misdirection, preparation, and escape routes over direct confrontation 93 185 448.
He values loyalty and filial duty, repeatedly aiding the Li Clan, respecting his elders, and privately mourning his parents. However, his devotion to family coexists with a pragmatic willingness to manipulate others, conceal information, and use ruthless methods when power or survival demands it 76 132 323 496.
Despite gaining fame, he remains wary of praise and public attention. He considers strength the only reliable means of controlling one’s own fate 353 361.
