Background

The Misty Cloud Sect was founded by a Dou Venerate who once dominated the Northwest Continent. Though it later declined, it retained a substantial inheritance and a cultivation system particularly suited to Wind Attribute practitioners. 55 181

Its mountain gate stands on Misty Cloud Mountain, a steep peak protected by cliffs on three sides and a single route to the summit. The sect's buildings are divided into four principal complexes, each patrolled by disciples. 1

The sect's founder was killed through a Soul Hall conspiracy, leaving behind an ancestral legacy that the Soul Hall later sought to exploit. The Soul Hall attempted to turn Yun Shan into a puppet and hollow out the sect from within, leading Yun Shan to declare the two factions irreconcilable enemies. 181

• Misty Cloud Mountain — A naturally defensible mountain stronghold with cliffs on three sides and one accessible mountain path. 1

Internal Politics

The sect was originally divided between Yun Yun's moderate faction, which favored stable development and cooperation with major powers, and Yun Leng's hawkish elder faction, which advocated aggressive expansion and plundering. Punishment Hall Elder Yun He remained nominally neutral but leaned toward Yun Yun. 8

Yun Leng's faction repeatedly targeted Gu Han and protected the Mo Family despite evidence of its crimes. After Yun Qingfeng's schemes against sect disciples were exposed, Yun Qingfeng was executed and Yun Leng resigned as Great Elder. 156 157

Gu Han subsequently assumed the Great Elder position, restructured the Affairs Hall, created the War Hall, and used medicinal pills and alchemy services to consolidate support among the elders. 171 174
