Appearance

The original dragon has an enormous wooden body, ancient wood-grain patterns and a prominent head 70. Its variants retain the dragon form while displaying traits of the Tailed Beasts whose Chakra they absorbed.

• Magnetic: Violet markings; can coat itself in black iron sand 72.
• Scaled: Metallic-blue carapace and two pairs of thin wings 171.
• Magma: Dark-red body with a lava-like sheen and heat-distorted air around it 179.
• Corrosive: Grayish-white body coated in dripping, acidic slime 188.
• Yang: Dark-orange body with crimson patterns resembling the Nine-Tails’ fur 209.

Abilities & Skills

Restraint and Chakra absorption

• Coils around targets to bind them and draws Chakra through contact. Against Shukaku, the stolen Chakra sustains the dragon and strengthens its hold 70 71.
• Can absorb Chakra from ninjutsu: it recovers after taking in Chakra from Kisame’s Water Shark Bullet and strips the Chakra from Roshi’s lava projectile 135 176.
• Absorbed Tailed Beast Chakra can change the dragon’s form and abilities; energy beyond its evolutionary needs can feed back into Shinichi 72 171.
• Absorption is not invulnerable: Shukaku destroys a Wood Dragon with a close-range Tailed Beast Bomb 71.

Regeneration and coordinated combat

• Repairs damage during a fight, including sections torn apart by Shukaku and a head blasted apart during the battle with Yugito Nii 70 215.
• Fights alongside Shinichi’s Wooden Man. Using both at once places a heavy Chakra burden on Shinichi 72.
• Shinichi can deploy multiple dragons together, combining their different attributes in a coordinated attack 177 191 262.

Variant techniques and movement

• The Magnetic variant controls iron sand; the Magma variant fires lava; the Corrosive variant sprays acid 72 179 191.
• The winged variant flies and carries Shinichi on its head 171 172.
• Later battles also show Fire and Ink Wood Dragons, and a Yin-Yang Wood Dragon that forms a Tailed Beast Bomb. Their creation is not documented in the provided account 262.

• Tejima Shinichi — Creator and controller; describes the dragon as the core of his mutated Wood Release 70 179.

• In Roshi’s memory of a future Shinichi, nine dragons gather before Shinichi uses Divine Tree World Descent; this is a future scene, not the number Shinichi commands at that point in the main sequence 181.
