Background / History

Konoha was founded by the First Hokage, Hashirama Senju. Hashirama's Wood Release became central to the village's founding legacy and its image as a force capable of ending an era of conflict. 3

During Sarutobi Hiruzen's later tenure as Third Hokage, internal conflict emerged around Shimura Danzō and Root. Danzō sought to seize Tejima Shinichi—whose Senju bloodline and immense Chakra he regarded as suitable for use as a “Backup Container”—while Hiruzen rejected the treatment of Konoha's younger generation as tools. 5 Root operatives later attempted to forcibly take Shinichi within the village, prompting an Anbu and Police Force response. 15 16

After Yamato reported that Root elites had attacked Shinichi during a mission, Hiruzen convened an emergency leadership meeting and resolved to curb Danzō's influence. 34 35 Hiruzen subsequently announced that Danzō had been stripped of his elder-advisor authority and that Root had been disbanded. 37 Danzō's crimes, including his role in the Uchiha clan's downfall, were later publicly exposed; he died alongside Root operatives through the Reverse Four Symbols Sealing. 153 154

Administration

Tejima Shinichi introduced reforms that reduced the Hokage's routine workload through delegation and administrative restructuring. Tsunade's workload remained substantial, but she gained considerably more free time than Hiruzen had enjoyed as Hokage. 173 184

Five Kage Summit and Akatsuki Raid

Konoha hosted a Five Kage Summit to address Akatsuki's campaign against the Tailed Beasts. The visiting leaders included the Raikage, Tsuchikage, Kazekage, Mizukage, and Takigakure's chief, Shibuki. 282

Akatsuki exploited Shinichi's absence to launch a full-scale night raid. Deidara bombed the Hokage Building, while the Six Paths of Pain, Kakuzu, Hidan, Kisame, Sasori, Kabuto, Konan, and Tobi targeted different areas of the village. 288 291
