Background / History

Hiruzen is a student of the Second Hokage, Senju Tobirama, and is recognized as the “Shinobi Hero” whose wartime reputation commands fear and respect across the ninja world. In his later years as Hokage, he remains responsible for Konoha’s administration, intelligence operations, and the protection of its younger generation. 35 287

After observing Tejima Shinichi’s Academy performance and immense Chakra reserves, Hiruzen identifies him as an exceptional Senju-blooded prodigy. When Shimura Danzō demands Shinichi, Sasuke, and Naruto for Root, Hiruzen refuses outright, insisting that the children must choose their own paths “under the sunlight” rather than be forged into weapons. 5

Root’s attempted abduction and assassination of Shinichi forces Hiruzen to abandon his usual compromises with Danzō. He convenes the elders, presents evidence connecting Root to the attack, and confronts Danzō after the latter admits his responsibility.
