Background / History

Tang Yu is a modern man who transmigrated into the body of a Clear Sky Sect disciple on the Douluo Continent. He awakens to possessing the Clear Sky Hammer Martial Soul and learns that his father, Tang Tian, is a Titled Douluo. Soon afterward, the Hammer Three System gives him four missions centered on defeating Tang San, with rewards escalating from External Soul Bones to a God Position. Tang Yu resolves to exploit this advantage and become stronger. 1

During his early cultivation, Tang Yu obtains Clear Sky Bodyguard from a Golden Shield Beast and raises his Soul Power to level 38 through the Mad Strength Purple Gold Ginseng. Though Tang Tian intends to send him to Heaven Dou Royal Academy, Tang Yu chooses to visit Shrek Academy first. 8

At Shrek, Tang Yu establishes his superiority over several students and teachers, including Dai Mubai, Zhao Wuji, Tang San, and Yu Xiaogang. He rejects Yu Xiaogang’s training program, exposes his alleged plagiarism, assaults him, and leaves the academy after defeating Tang San. 17 22 23

Tang Yu later enters Heaven Dou Royal Academy, defeats Yu Tianheng for the academy’s top position, and returns to Clear Sky Sect as a level 43 Soul Ancestor. Tang Yu is intensely ambitious, self-assured, and confrontational. He regularly challenges stronger opponents, rejects authority he considers unworthy, and places great value on visible strength. He is also politically calculating. Rather than simply eliminating Dugu Bo, Tang Yu turns him into a ten-year subordinate by offering a solution to his poison backlash.
