Background / History
Jiang Yujie is the young master of the Jiang Family’s Imperial Artifact Clan. His father, Jiang Hao, is the current Jiang Family Head. The family specializes in Object Manipulation Technique: practitioners seal a wisp of their soul into an innate object and nourish it with spiritual energy over many years. Jiang’s innate artifact is the Dragon Bone Thorns. The Jiang Family is fire-attributed, though it prioritizes artifact cultivation over fire techniques. 41 59
His family owes a historic debt to Li Yutong’s grandfather, Li Xuande. When the Jiang Family was once attacked by more than a dozen Ghost Kings, Li Xuande repelled them alone and saved the clan from destruction. 141
Jiang first meets Li Yutong in Yun City, immediately expressing interest in sparring with him. Though initially confused by Li Yutong’s connection to the Jiang Family’s benefactor, he soon becomes one of Li’s regular companions alongside Yun Yao. 41
During the expedition to the Ghost King’s mine, Jiang repeatedly faces dangers that expose both his fearfulness and resolve. He suffers severe injuries from insect-like creatures and later a zombie, depletes himself fighting White Jade Spiders, and is nearly crushed after an explosion. Despite this, he continues forward with Li Yutong and Yun Yao. 66 84 118 189
His experiences gradually make him steadier and more confident. After the Xia Family Ancient House ordeal, he is noted to have faced his fears and become calmer. He later volunteers to confront ghosts independently and develops into a capable combatant rather than relying solely on his companions. 199 234
Jiang later leaves the group temporarily to return to Ganzhou Province after his father calls him home over trouble involving his cousin. Li Yutong gives him a Golden Light Purple Thunder Talisman and arranges for Bai Mu to protect him during the journey. 391 392 393
Personality
Jiang Yujie is impulsive, competitive, and fond of showing off. He seeks sparring matches, boasts about his family’s yin well, and frequently makes reckless or inappropriate remarks—often resulting in Yun Yao physically punishing him. 41 135 162
Despite his cowardice around ghosts and his tendency to panic, he is loyal and willing to take risks for others. He fights Chen Hao after claiming to repay a kindness, promises to stand with Li Yutong against the Chen Family, and remains with his companions even when frightened by supernatural threats. 47 59 348
He initially compares himself unfavorably to Li Yutong and worries that his father does not respect him. The loss and family history contained in the natal origin energy given to him by Jiang Hao reveal a deeply emotional attachment to his relatives and ancestors. 97 361
Abilities & Skills
Object Manipulation Technique
Jiang is trained in the Jiang Family’s hereditary art of cultivating and remotely controlling soul-bound objects.
- His family’s practitioners nurture an innate artifact by sealing a wisp of their soul into it and supplying it with spiritual energy over time. 59
- The Jiang Family also possesses a secret technique for manipulating objects without sealing a soul into them, though its details are not publicly revealed. 59
- His artifact control becomes fast enough that Li Yutong cannot match the speed of his Dragon Bone Thorns. 253
Dragon Bone Thorns
Jiang’s primary innate artifact is a set of Dragon Bone Thorns, used for attack, defense, mobility, and ambushes.
- He uses them to climb a sheer cliff leading to the Ghost King’s mine. 71
- The thorns can guard allies and intercept attacks from behind during melee combat. 191
- He combines them with Li Yutong’s swordsmanship to defeat a Yin soldier. 192
- His Reincarnation technique allows a Dragon Bone Thorn to strike unexpectedly and kill an attacker despite a realm disadvantage. 212
- He controls twelve thorns after reaching Righteous Path Late-stage. 359
- By the Merging with the Way Realm, he manifests 105 black-and-red Dragon Bone Thorns. 490
Void Chain Mirror Fusion Returning to the Void Fate
Jiang’s one-use trump card was entrusted to him by his father before the Ghost King’s mine expedition.
- It opens a large black hole and summons a massive black-and-red sword. 104
- The attack is tied to a Jiang Family magic array and a Soul Artifact cultivated over years. 104
- Once it locks onto a target, escape is impossible unless the target can directly break the attack or the Soul Artifact’s energy is exhausted. 104
- Jiang can only use it once in that situation; activating it drains all of his stamina and spiritual energy. 104
- The technique’s full name is difficult for him to remember. 104
Combat Judgment
Jiang’s tactical ability improves over time, particularly when supporting stronger allies.
- He identifies Yun Yao’s Cloud Flow Qi Refining Technique during her battle with the Abyssal Ghost King. 101
- He uses a black bead and a black-hole technique to create an opening for Yun Yao’s spears to bypass a Ghost King’s defenses. 103
- He prepares a mysterious technique while the group fights Yin General Hei Kui, contributing to the later battle. 185
- He quickly disperses curious ordinary bystanders after publicly flying into Yun City by claiming the group is filming a movie. 483
