Background / History

Yun Potian is the patriarch of the Yun Family, which controls Yun City. He was a life-and-death friend of Li Xuande, grandfather of Li Yutong; Yun Potian's son and Yutong's father were also sworn brothers. 41

His family has suffered severe losses. Yun Yao's father disappeared around the same period as Yutong's father, while many of her uncles died protecting the family. Yun Potian later reveals that Yun Yao's second uncle also died in battle, leaving only four high-level Yun Family combatants including himself. 42 55

Recognizing the Yun Family's internal instability and approaching calamity, Yun Potian assesses Yutong's character during the Hidden Shop incident. Convinced that Yun Yao would have better odds of survival beside him, he asks Yutong to take her along should the family fall. 55

During the assault on Yun City, Yun Potian helps organize its defense into four regions, assigning trusted allies and relatives to hold each sector while personally guarding the exit to prevent enemies and reinforcements from moving through it. 323
