Kaguya's voice echoed in her heart, carrying a lazy hint of amusement.
"Now that I am inside your body, nothing you do can hurt me."
Suiko did not open her eyes. She merely said flatly, "Then why don't you take the chance to devour me?"

Kaguya gave a soft laugh.
"Silly girl, if I devoured you, I would have to face your master alone.
"With what remains of my soul, he could crush me with a single finger."
"So you need me."
Suiko opened her eyes, the star-filled sky reflected in them.
"You need me as cover."
"Smart."
Kaguya's voice held approval.
"Your master..."
"He is merciless toward his enemies, but he protects those around him fiercely."
"Before he left, he even planted black flames to protect his little disciple."
"People like him are the easiest to hurt through those close to them."
Suiko clenched her fists until her knuckles turned white.
"You want me to... hurt Master?"
"Not hurt him."
Kaguya's voice was as gentle as a lover's whisper.
"Men, especially powerful men, often find the tenderness of those around them the hardest thing to resist."
"If you can make him develop different feelings for you, make him see you as more than a disciple..."

Suiko cut her off sharply, rage blazing in her eyes.
