Background / History

Kaguya arrived in the world as the Divine Tree's guardian. Her clan had designated her as its eventual sacrifice, a fate she initially believed she could not resist. After meeting Chiyo Uchiha, she told him about her predicament and warned that Ōtsutsuki Isshiki would arrive in less than two years 135 136 137.

Chiyo traveled with her for a year and a half, teaching her combat and introducing her to human life. They used the Ten-Tails to gather energy and set a trap for Isshiki. After defeating him, Kaguya ate the Chakra Fruit; Chiyo then disappeared when he resonated with the Dragon Vein's spatial energy 138 139 140.

During Chiyo's absence, Kaguya used the Divine Tree to absorb humans and create a White Zetsu army against the Ōtsutsuki clan. She adopted Hagoromo and Hamura and gave them chakra, but their opposition to the suffering caused by the Divine Tree led to a battle. They sealed her on the moon 383. Chiyo later found her body there without a detectable consciousness. He protected it in his Kamui dimension until a ritual involving Black Zetsu, the Ten-Tails, Tenseigan energy, and the Demonic Blade restored her consciousness 350 375.

Appearance

Kaguya has a pale, otherworldly appearance that changes visibly as her powers develop 135 140 460.

• Long silver-white hair, described as reaching her ankles 407.
• White Byakugan eyes; after gaining the Pure Eye, a faint golden halo appears within them 375 460.
• An ancient white robe adorned with magatama patterns 375 384.

Personality

Initially reserved and resigned to her assigned fate, Kaguya gradually becomes more curious and expressive while traveling with Chiyo. She begins asking about battle strategies, smiling during training, and eventually accepts his confession of love 136 138. Even after gaining immense power, she retains a deep fear of the Ōtsutsuki pursuers 386 452.

Her attachment to Chiyo and Konoha gives her a reason to protect others rather than pursue power solely through Chakra Fruits. She calls Chiyo her lover and family when confronting Momoshiki, and later says she wants to protect Konoha and its people 440 453.

Ten-Tails and Divine Tree Control

• Summons and directs the Ten-Tails to absorb underground energy, then absorbs chakra it converts 138.
