"Sir, things here are somewhat beyond what we expected. I think you should come and see for yourself."
Nick Fury was sitting on the sofa, still trying to figure out what to do with the Hydra spies on the list. Pierce had also speculated that Hydra had other branches lurking around the world, which matched the information in his mind. Just as Black Eggplant was racking his brains, he got a call from Coulson in his own world. Coulson's words suggested that things had gone beyond their expectations, and Nick Fury immediately sprang into action.
Coulson's mission was to bring Wei Xiuming to S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, along with the supercomputer running a weakened version of the "Akashic Records."
A supercomputer didn't sound like a small piece of equipment. Nick Fury had specifically sent two large transport planes to collect it, with a squadron of fighter jets escorting them the whole way, just in case.
Nick Fury's plan was that once Wei Xiuming's supercomputer reached S.H.I.E.L.D., it wouldn't be going back in one piece. Its best fate would be to become the main control computer for the helicarrier under construction. After all, Wei Xiuming held a position as a department head at S.H.I.E.L.D., responsible for upgrading and modifying large-scale equipment and proposing research and development projects. The helicarrier qualified as large-scale equipment, so fitting it with the supercomputer would be a perfect match.
At worst, they could buy it from Wei Xiuming. Even if he demanded an astronomical sum, Nick Fury could simply turn around and request funding from the World Security Council. The amount would be based on Wei Xiuming's asking price, multiplied by three, with two zeros added before the decimal point.
Given the research capabilities Wei Xiuming had demonstrated so far, whatever he made was bound to be ahead
