"Are you alright, kid?" The old instructor asked Chang Ping, after chasing away the troublesome brats.
Chang Ping shook his head.
"If you're fine, go back to your seat. Class is about to start," the old instructor said, patting Chang Ping's shoulder.
Chang Ping turned and walked towards Shen Yue's seat, plopping down onto it.
The old instructor was a little surprised but didn't say anything more.
A while later, Shen Yue walked in from outside, dejected. He tucked his tail between his legs, like a stray dog, and under everyone's mocking gazes, sat in the back row of the classroom.
He clenched his fists and glared venomously at Chang Ping: "Just you wait, brat. After school at noon, if I don't make you call me 'Daddy,' then my surname isn't Shen."
Given Chang Ping's formidable combat power, Shen Yue wasn't going to fight him one-on-one. He planned to gather a mob to beat him up. As the saying goes, two fists can't beat four hands; a Mighty Lion can't fight off a pack of wolves. No matter how strong one person is, they can't defeat a crowd, especially when the crowd has weapons.
Time vanished as quickly as a burning matchstick, and in the blink of an eye, it was noon.
Dong dong dong!
The moment the dismissal bell rang, crowds of boys and girls poured out of classrooms. They ran swiftly, shouting and yelling as they crossed the courtyard, rushing towards the academy's main cafeteria to the north.
The sun blazed fiercely, like a fiery umbrella held aloft in the sky.
It was nearing the season of Mangzhong, and the weather was already very warm. Chang Ping, wearing a straw hat, followed the flow of people.
Lu Piao interlaced his fingers, resting his arms behind his head, and followed Chang Ping unhurriedly, using his broad back to shield him from the sun.
Suddenly, an older student with uneven eyes quickly caught up. He spread his arms, blocking Chang Ping's path.
"Kid, Young Master Shen wishes to see you!"
Chang Ping's response was a slap the size of a palm-leaf fan.
Slap! The older student's nose and mouth bled as he was sent flying to the left.
Chang Ping had held back. If he had used Dark Energy, that slap would have shown the conceited older student his own brains.
"Go back and tell Shen Yue and Shen Fei that if they don't want to die, they shouldn't bother me!"
After warning Shen Yue's lackey, Chang Ping snorted coldly and headed towards the cafeteria.
"Brother Chang, you're so strong. That Hao Jian is a formal class student, a Silver Two-star warrior, and you took him down with just one slap," Lu Piao said, flattering Chang Ping at the opportune moment.
Chang Ping said expressionlessly, "He's just trash. I don't even bother looking at him."
After the two had walked away, Shen Yue and the others dared to come forward and help Hao Jian up.
Shen Yue hadn't expected Chang Ping's strength to be so terrifying. He deeply regretted not listening to his elder brother's advice.
Now, it seemed there were only two options to deal with Chang Ping. Either spend a large sum of money to acquire a Gold Weapon capable of a one-hit kill, or wait for Chang Ping to leave the academy and have the Gold experts from his family ambush him.
An ordinary Gold Weapon alone cost at least one million Demon Spirit Coins. Shen Yue didn't have that much money, so he could only choose the second path.
"Do I have to be ridden like this as long as I'm in the academy?" Shen Yue clenched his fists, unwilling to accept this.
Suddenly, an idea struck Shen Yue.
If he couldn't beat him head-on, he could play dirty, right?
"You, go to the street outside and buy a pack of arsenic!" Shen Yue ordered a subordinate, pointing at him. "Remember, the most potent arsenic, enough to poison a Gold Demon Beast."
Academy Main Cafeteria.
By the time Chang Ping and Lu Piao arrived, the first floor was already packed.
Saint Orchid Academy had thousands of students and nearly a hundred instructors. It was no wonder it was crowded when everyone came to eat in one place.
"The first floor is the free cafeteria for commoners, and the second floor is the paid cafeteria for nobles. Let's go to the second floor, Brother Chang. My treat!" Lu Piao grabbed Chang Ping's arm and headed for the stairs.
"No need! I'm afraid I'll eat you broke!" Chang Ping refused.
Lu Piao, not yet realizing the gravity of the situation, patted his wallet with a smile and said, "I have over three thousand Demon Spirit Coins here, enough to buy over six thousand sesame flatbreads. You think you can eat me broke? Don't be shy, let's go!"
Ten minutes later.
Lu Piao walked down the stairs with a crestfallen face.
"This meal was truly satisfying. Thanks for the treat!" Chang Ping said, picking his teeth.
Lu Piao forced a smile that looked worse than crying and tugged at the corners of his mouth. "As long as Brother Chang is happy!"
Eating three thousand Demon Spirit Coins worth of food, was this guy a bottomless pit?
He ate sesame flatbreads one after another, without even chewing. This wasn't eating; it was practically drinking his food.
After lunch, the two headed towards the dormitory area.
"Huh? Where are you going? The student dorms are to the right!" Lu Piao suddenly reminded him.
Chang Ping gave a thumbs-up and pointed to the left. "That's your dorm. Mine is on the left."
"Why do you get to live in the instructor's dorms?" Having become familiar with Chang Ping, Lu Piao spoke less reservedly than before.
Chang Ping shrugged. "Vice Principal Ye Sheng arranged it for me personally. I'm not too sure myself, maybe because I'm a genius?"
"A genius? A genius at eating?" Lu Piao was still bothered by Chang Ping consuming three thousand coins in one meal.
"Perhaps," Chang Ping said with a helpless expression. "Thanks for treating me to lunch today. I'll treat you to a big meal another day."
"When is 'another day'?" Lu Piao pressed.
"How about a week from now?"
In seven more days, he would be able to get seventy thousand Demon Spirit Coins in cash from the general affairs staff.
The two parted ways and returned to their respective dormitories.
On the way, Chang Ping ran into an old acquaintance.
It was none other than Shen Xiu.
Upon seeing him, Shen Xiu panicked and fled as if a fly had encountered insecticide.
"Stop! You're not allowed to run!" Chang Ping lunged forward, blocking Shen Xiu's path.
Shen Xiu stared with frightened phoenix eyes and asked warily, "What do you want?"
"What else? It's you, of course!" Chang Ping gave a wicked smile. "Instructor Shen Xiu, you wouldn't want your secret photos to be seen by every man in the City of Radiance, would you?"
"You're shameless!" Shen Xiu slapped at Chang Ping's face, but he was faster, lightly gripping her wrist.
"Thank you for the compliment. I'll show you how shameless I can be right now!"
Chang Ping yanked hard, pulling Shen Xiu into his embrace.
"Let go of me! If you don't, I'll call for help!" Shen Xiu was so terrified her face lost all color. She struggled frantically; she never wanted to experience last night's nightmare again.
"Go ahead and shout. Shout your lungs out, and no one will come to save you." Chang Ping didn't let go; instead, he held her tighter.
She ate his heart and thought a quick meal would be enough? No way!
Shen Xiu had been poisoned by the Xiangliu's black water poison. She could have endured it, but with Chang Ping's embrace, her emotions surged, and the poison rapidly spread, beginning to take effect.
Her breathing grew rapid, her eyes became glazed, and she even began to actively wrap her arms around Chang Ping's thick neck.
"Good, you know what's good for you!" Chang Ping grunted. He picked up Shen Xiu and strode quickly towards the dormitory.
