Bai Lang called Director Gordon to tell him the culprits behind the police station bombing were at an abandoned factory.
[Ability Points +3]
Without the slightest hesitation, he spent all three points on his Current Propulsion ability.
[Current Propulsion: 55,000 Volts] → [Current Propulsion: 61,000 Volts]
The power within him surged once again, boosting his strength to at least three times that of Batman in his standard suit.
Bai Lang left the room and walked slowly toward the warehouse.
Inside him, sheer force of will made his cells rub together at high speed.
Trickles of bioelectricity sparked from the friction, adding to his modest reserve of current.
The tingling sensation made him lose himself in it for a moment.
The current in his body gradually surged from 61,000 volts toward 500,000 volts.
By his rough estimate, this boost had increased his strength by 40 percent—a terrifying amount.
It was like finding that he could lift ten tons, then gaining another four tons of strength from a 40 percent increase.
That was the result of his body growing stronger and the Current Propulsion making him even more powerful.
Not only had his muscles grown firmer, but a thick layer of callus had begun to form over his skin.
Bai Lang pinched it and found that it was fused to his skin and dulled pain considerably.
"The current is constantly stimulating my muscles and cells. My physical abilities are now at least thirty times greater than an ordinary person's!"
"But the most terrifying thing isn't my physique. It's my ability."
The current inside him was wild and potent. With a mere thought, Bai Lang could unleash a devastating shock like the one before from any part of his body.
At present, the current in his body could sustain at most two more lightning attacks like the one he'd just used.
I still need to get stronger... Bai Lang couldn't help thinking.
On the way, he ran into several armed gang members, but he took them all down.
What Bai Lang didn't know was that Bane's men had already installed surveillance cameras throughout the area. Bane had been watching his every move.
Fortunately, Bai Lang wore a suit just like Batman's, so Bane genuinely thought Batman had found him.
A savage grin spread across Bane's face. "Batman, you came at just the right time. This will be your final resting place!"
Gotham's scourge of crime, the Dark Knight, Batman.
He wondered what the people of Gotham would look like when they learned Batman had died at his hands.
This would be the first step in my conquest of Gotham!
As Bane thought about it, his grin grew ever wider.
He was inside the abandoned factory's warehouse.
There were some discarded goods inside. His men had stacked them into a makeshift barricade, and a wrecked car sat beside the entrance.
Behind him stood a dozen men armed with rifles, while Splinter manned a machine gun, aiming it at the warehouse entrance.
The moment Batman stepped through the door, the big gun would give him a proper welcome.
Splinter wore a cruel grin. He'd never seen Batman withstand heavy machine-gun fire before.
His opponent was as good as dead!
But before Bane could decide what he would do after conquering Gotham, a tremendous crash rang out from the warehouse doors.
Someone was ramming them.
Boom!!
The doors were kicked open in an instant, and a black-clad figure appeared before them.
At the same time, Splinter's machine gun began spitting fire, and the men beside him raised their rifles and opened fire too.
A torrent of bullets erupted, enough firepower to bring down any large animal in the world.
Even the concrete beside the doors was shot through, kicking up a haze of dust that shrouded the entrance.
"Hahahaha! Batman! How's that for a warm welcome? This is my gift to you!" Splinter roared, working the heavy machine gun with a crazed, savage look on his face.
"Gunning down Gotham's Dark Knight is even better than sleeping with a woman!"
The wind howled, and smoke billowed.
The machine gun roared through the warehouse, its deafening sound echoing around the vast room.
The entrance shook under the relentless fire. The green-painted iron doors were blasted into pieces and fell to the floor.
The people inside the warehouse could no longer see what was happening at the entrance. The riflemen had run out of ammunition.
But Splinter kept firing. He relished the moment—when he killed the Dark Knight who protected justice in Gotham.
After a while, Bane raised his hand to signal him, and Splinter finally stopped the furious barrage.
Three or four seconds passed before the smoke slowly began to disperse in wisps and ribbons, drifting in every direction.
It thinned gradually, until at last it vanished.
A black silhouette slowly emerged from the smoke.
When the people there made out the figure and the clothes he wore, their pupils shrank.
One of them couldn't help shouting, "Jack!"
"H-How could this happen?"
"H-How could Batman still be alive?!"
It was one of the gang members Bai Lang had knocked out earlier.
Jack's body had been riddled with bullets and reduced to bloody pulp.
Behind him, two more bodies slowly toppled to the ground.
At last, a broad-shouldered figure in black crouched there. It was Bai Lang, wearing a Batman suit!
Muscles like slabs of granite bulged across his body, and his sharp, eagle-like gaze made everyone's hearts tremble.
An invisible, ferocious menace spread through the smoke and wind like some kind of scent.
Boom!
Under the warehouse's dim yellow lights, the iron doors crashed down with a heavy clang.
The sound of flapping wings filled the air as bats poured in through the entrance.
The black-clad figure slowly rose, revealing the bat emblem on his chest.
The emblem was black against yellow, like an angel of death.
The bats seemed like ill omens as they swirled wildly around the figure in black.
"Bane..." A deep voice came from the black-clad figure.
Bane's face tightened. He stared at Batman, and a bead of cold sweat ran down his forehead.
Damn it, why was this Batman so intimidating?
"Die, Batman!" Splinter roared, swinging the machine gun toward the nightmare-like figure and opening fire.
"Die, die, die, die, die, die!!!" Splinter kept sweeping the area with his machine gun. The flashes from the spraying bullets lit up his hideous face.
A storm of bullets tore toward Bai Lang.
Bane's expression darkened as he stared fixedly at Bai Lang.
The machine gun's firepower was ferocious. Even Bane himself would have had to flee in disarray beneath its hail of bullets.
That damn Batman had used their gang brothers to block the bullets!
Now there was nothing to hide behind. The bastard would surely be riddled with holes by the hail of gunfire!
He didn't believe Batman could withstand the machine gun's barrage. The files said his physical abilities were merely at the human limit. Even a bulletproof vest couldn't stop that kind of firepower!
Once it was over, he'd have his men gang-rape Batman. He would make sure the bastard learned what humiliation meant!
As Bane imagined it, a savage grin spread across his face again.
But the next sight made him feel that all the information he'd gathered was complete shit.
Under the machine gun's relentless fire, Bai Lang reached out and lifted the wrecked car beside him, holding it in front of himself.
Bullets poured out, slamming into the wrecked car and punching hole after hole through it.
The steel was pierced as the bullets tore through it.
Bai Lang then raised one of the bodies that had been shot to pieces from the ground and held it in front of himself. He remained unharmed.
Could a wrecked car and a few bodies reduced to bloody pulp really stop a machine-gun barrage?
Absolutely! Easily!
After a few minutes, the gunfire stopped.
The machine gun Bane's men had gotten their hands on was an old model, so it didn't have many bullets.
They'd already fired at Jack for nearly six minutes, then spent several more minutes shooting at the wrecked car. The gun was completely out of ammunition.
When he heard the firing stop, Bai Lang lifted the car with one hand and hurled it toward Bane and the others!
Bane stood frozen in place, staring at the sight.
