Manifestation and Inheritance

A Martial Soul may manifest as an animal, weapon, plant, bodily trait, or other supernatural form. Its nature determines a Soul Master's attributes, combat style, and potential Soul Skills.

• Martial Souls are generally believed to be inherited from the stronger parent. Twin Martial Souls are said to occur when both parents' Martial Souls are of comparable quality 2.
• Mutations can alter a Martial Soul's attributes or form. Nan Li publicly describes her Flame Feather Vermilion Bird as a mutation of the Flame Feather Sparrow, while Xumi Raven Wu Lei possesses a lightning-attributed mutation 81 159.
• Martial Souls can evolve. Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan's Jade Phosphorous Serpents evolve into Jade Phosphorous Serpent Emperors, with Dugu Bo's manifestation also developing dragon horns 100 101.
• A Martial Soul's rank may naturally suppress weaker or related Martial Souls. Shui Bing'er's Condensing Water Flying Phoenix is instead suppressed by Nan Li's Vermilion Bird despite both being avian Martial Souls 177.

• Xiao Chen Yu's Wolf possession grants wolf-like eyes and claws 6.
• Zhang Ruofeng's Rhinoceros possession produces hide and a forehead horn 19.
• Huo Wushuang's Unicorn Fire Tyrant Dragon possession manifests scales across his limbs and a horn on his head 205.

Martial Soul Avatar

A Martial Soul Avatar fully manifests or significantly enhances the Martial Soul for combat.

• Nan Li's Avatar produces burning crimson wings and allows aerial movement 2 31.
• Her use of the Avatar is repeatedly associated with flight, close-range attacks, and the release of Southern Bright Leaving Fire 31 255.
• Dai Mubai's Avatar visibly enlarges his body and manifests tiger claws; additional Soul Skills can enhance this state further 149.

Soul Rings and Soul Skills

Soul Rings are the primary source of Soul Skills. They appear around or beneath a Soul Master when released, with each ring granting a distinct technique.

• Soul Ring color and age indicate quality. Luo Gu's yellow, yellow, purple configuration includes unusually old second- and third-ring ages 51.
• Soul Ring age is constrained by a Soul Master's physique and endurance; attempting to absorb a ring beyond one's limit can result in death 64.
• Human Soul Masters generally acquire rings from suitable Soul Beasts, while transformed Soul Beasts can condense their first six Soul Rings themselves 64.
• Self-condensed rings are naturally suited to the transformed Soul Beast's body and can provide more suitable skills than externally acquired rings 64.

A Martial Soul Fusion Skill is created when compatible Soul Masters combine their Martial Souls and Soul Power into a single technique. It consumes immense Soul Power but can greatly increase circulation efficiency during joint cultivation 139 292.

Zhuzhao

Nan Li and Dong Yun's Martial Soul Fusion Skill, Zhuzhao, combines their Southern Bright Domain and Great Sun Domain through the Four Directions Kun Li Array 139.

• Zhuzhao manifests as a crimson-gold figure with golden eyes, raven-black wings, a black mask, and a black-gold spear 139.
• The fusion first succeeds naturally after Nan Li and Dong Yun obtain their fifth Soul Skills 184.
• Their ability to fuse later fails after returning to the continent, which they attribute to their relaxed state and lack of pressure at Blazing Fire Academy 184.

Martial Soul Evolution

Martial Souls can improve through cultivation, medicinal resources, Soul Bones, or exceptional opportunities.

• The Snowy Swan Kiss allows Dugu Bo's Jade Phosphorous Serpent to evolve into the Jade Phosphorous Serpent Emperor and contributes to his advancement from level 91 to 93 100.
• Under Dan Hong's guidance, Dugu Yan refines the same medicine and evolves her Martial Soul into the Jade Phosphorous Serpent Emperor at the Soul Elder realm 101.

Soul Bones and Martial Souls

Soul Bones can strengthen a Martial Soul, compensate for weaknesses, or preserve powerful abilities.
