"Something's wrong."
Just as all manner of demons began appearing along the roads outside the city, stirring up a commotion, the National Teacher waited patiently and quietly for Hu Ma before the ancestral shrine in Imperial Capital City. He was, unexpectedly, a patient man. Once he had made his arrangements, he simply let others handle what needed doing.
But after keeping his vigil for the entire night, even his patience was shaken by the commotion outside the city. He paused in surprise.
"The troops shouldn't have arrived this quickly."
He frowned. Few in this world understood Reincarnators better than he did. Among the capable people under heaven, perhaps only the Hu Family Young Master understood them as well.
And because he understood them, he knew their weaknesses. With no pressure on their shoulders, they weren't grounded in their work. They might have talent, but they studied occult arts mostly for fun.

The previous generation of Reincarnators had raised a Do Not Eat Beef, but it had mostly been a farce. One by one, they had been taught into madness. This generation had managed to raise troops, but their soldiers were arrogant and their generals unruly. They were no real threat.
It was precisely because he understood them and had made his arrangements that he was certain Everlasting King's army couldn't have bypassed the Ten Surnames' web and reached the outskirts of Imperial Capital City in such a short time.
The passage of tens of thousands of troops was no small matter. How could they possibly avoid notice?
